Best hunting weapon Fx Impact 22 or EdGun Matador 22?

Both are very accurate. My friend has the matador and cricket. I will say that the matador shoots equal to my impact. Now, that being said, both guns will rely heavily on the shooter and the setup done by the shooter. Even though my impact was stupid expensive, I still had to go through a honeymoon stage to find the most repeatable way to shoot the gun. I personally would still choose the impact for hunting simply because I do shoot in a couple dairy farms and like that I can tune the gun to low power and punch pigeons without the worry of melting the steel behind them. I have the .25 only right now but will be buying .177 to better fit my indoor applications more. I have been asked to assist with a rat problem after more farmers heard I like to pest hunt. There are many options out there that are cheaper than the impacts. Be sure to check as much out about crickets, Vulcans and wildcats as wellbefore pulling the trigger on an impact. Not to steer you away from the impact, but the accessories for the fx impact are stupid expensive. A magazine alone cost above $100.00.

Yeah, you need to do more reading here. Basic guidelines go like this: 1) you get what you pay for. 2) No two guns are the same, someone buys two of the exact same gun the will not shoot exactly the same, even with the same shooter. 3) You can tune any gun to shoot great with time and effort. 4) if there was the best gun right now on the market we would all own it. 5) Everyone has there own opinions on which make and model of gun they like (just like cars), take it with a grain of salt.

Why did you not consider: Vulcan, Cricket, or Bobcat? Just curious. I don't own either of your two choice my opinion is the Matador .22 because it has a long proven history and the FX is still going thru growing pain. But with that said the same man whom made the Matador .22 famous also has now out the Impact in .25 cal with JSB .33 grain MKII's on the map. So you probably can't go wrong with either. Personally I would get a Vulcan. Oh i did get a vulcan LOL.

If its all about hunting, then its mostly personal preference. When you close your eyes and shoulder the rifle, then open them up, does everything feel right and look right. Does it shoot well for you in many different positions like an extension of who you are. The main problem with these airguns is most of us don't live next to AOA where you can hold them. The best thing to do is use a friends. I once bought a Ruger Red Label shotgun and found it uncomfortable and I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. I later sold it and bought a Benelli M1 90 and couldn't miss a bird if I tried. I like small rifles even though I'm 6'2". I bought a Micro Midas Bl22 for my Grandkids even though they are 2yrs and 2 months in age. I love the size of it, but someone else might like a full size gun. If you can, hold and shoot both. If you can't, buy and sell 'till you find 'the one'.

About any pcp is accurate enough to hunt with. Depends on what you are hunting and range you are hunting at. I own several have killed more squirrels with a 22 marader than any other airgun just because I have owned it longer. I have a impact and a wildcat wildcat have hunted with a lot impact working so much have just had time to run about 600 pellets through in the back yard. I do like it a lot though. I think the impact in 25 will be my go to squirrel gun this fall.

I have a ST .22 Wildcat. I've been shooting it for about 2 months now. It is not quite as accurate as my AirWolf or Cricket in the same caliber. At first is was disappointing but I guess the regulator or something needed to break in and now it's pretty accurate. ST is an interesting way to rifle a barrel. The fact that it works basically as good and must be way less expensive it is a pretty smart idea. I'm sure if it wasn't patented a lot of other manufactures would be doing it.

I would definitely say that they are both similar as far as groups go. Some days I can pull off tighter groups and some days he can pull off tighter groups. I would say the impact does shoot more "consistent" and is more forgiving to me than any other gun. I have shot the edgun on many occasions and I think that it is more compact and definitely built to hunt. The impact is heavier and longer when extended. I will say that the cocking lever location is one of the major turn offs to me as well. Failed to mention that on the earlier post.

Ted has put together some outstanding videos on the Impact recently. I think they should answer most of your questions. But even the best shooters miss occasionally, well maybe not Ted. LOL There have been a lot of problems written about the Impact. Hopefully they are all older generations that have been addressed. I have the Cricket but would love to have a 25 Impact because of easy to adjust to most settings from shooting around building to the long shots. As mentioned before, you can get almost any high end PCP to shoot well but you have to put the time in to learn your gun. No Shortcuts to consistent shooting.

When the impact came out, I loved the looks and put it on top of the want list.
Then I realised the distance between scope and barrel is pretty large (which i dont like ...)
Then I found that the impact got lots of o-rings that may fail overtime.
Then the reports on issues started to come in.
Now I have a new r3m .25 long. All the issues have been ironed out, I love the accuracy, the efficency, the balance, the 4 mags under the rail, and the bolt works great. I think its the perfect hunting gun...
