So I have tried many different expansion pellets for hunting, but they just don't have the penetration on a rabbit. My normal pointed pellets do a better job with the more penetration. Any ideas on good hunting pellets?
I really envy you have a. 22 and 25 caliber to play, I can only use the old gun in China. 177 changed to PCP kinetic energy is too small, also often hit prey and not die"blackdiesel"What gun are you using? My least powerful gun is 40 fpe and every small animal I've shot (22 or 25 cal), even at 90 yards the pellet passed through them like the animals were cardboard.
Ok. I have all PCPs so power for small game is no problem for me. I've been looking at some UK airgun hunting videos and they do a lot with sub 12 fpe guns. Some stretch out to 50 yards and drop rabbits with precise head shots."Chnysng"

My. 177 kinetic energy can reach 22 fpe but kinetic energy could not kill the birds"blackdiesel"

22 FPE is plenty of power to take an average bird. As thehunter said above, its all about shot placement & headshots are recommended."Chnysng"

Good response."thehunter"I too have a gamo .177. Use a good domed pellet, and only take headshots, not bodyshots. If your gun can't drop your target with a headshot then it is underpowered.
. 177 caliber even powerful dozen pigeons are difficult to die at once, the wound is small."Michael"

"EXZIVER"As much as I wanted to use some of the very cool exotic pellets out there, I personally stick with .25 JSB Kings or .22 jumbo Heavies. That pretty much goes for most of my guns (Edgun, Airforce, Cricket, Etc. I will from time to time use the Predator polymag if the distance is close enough. Although the devastation is Awesome with the Polymag, the pin point accuracy of the Kings and heavies Trumps in my opinion.
Hey Exzi...good to see your still around. Can't wait for more air gun hunting adventure videos.
"MattChastain"99% of the time your best hunting pellet is just the pellet you are most accurate with. Shot placement is the biggest thing for a .177
Well said. That's why I run a .25. It makes up for some error on my part.
