You are 100% right. You can fill any size tank, you just have to maintain discipline. There is no reason in the world why it would matter as long as you manage heat.

As to Chevron Open Gear Lube, you can find it on Amazon, ~$15

I can't find it anywhere on Amazon. They have several other types from Chevron, but no "open gear".

Its just open gear grease . Its like you cant buy Valvoline but won't even look at havoline or mobil , Castrol ect... .lol.

Open gear grease is really available on amazon ..

Also 5th wheel grease or motorcycle chain lube . Lol

I wouldn't go exotic, it's a gear drive, a design old as dirt. Keep it lubed and it's golden. I've not tried cv grease as it's made for a completely different animal. Not saying it won't work, just that that's not what it's made for.

I use food grade green grease in my CS3 and have yet to have an issue. I have cleaned and regreased it twice in the 2 years that I've owned it. I am the second owner. The first owner used it very little until he upgrade to a bigger compressor for filling tanks. He went with the CS4 and I think he's upgraded again to the CS5.
