Best ammo for HW95 .22

Buy a tin of everything you can get your hands on and shoot them all because everyone's guns are different. Check out Steve at AEAC how many different tins he shoots to test.

Just because someone elses HW 95 shoots a specific pellet well doesn't mean yours would shoot as good.

Yours may like a rubbish unknown brand you never know till you try everything for yourself and get first hand experience in your own gun.

I've had excellent results with these but of course every rifle has its own personality. I would definitely give the Crosmans a try since they are the cheapest.

I’ve never had a 22 cal 95, only a 177 r9 but JSB RS always shoot well for me in 22 springers. I don’t have even a sixteenth of the experience some of the people here have that have commented already But I will say the usual suspects of exacts and FTTs usually have one that does good. What have you tried?

I also have had some guns that will for some reason shoot that strange seldom used pellet the best. Case in point a Crosman barrel that shot anything pointed good and a very old tin of Crosman pointed pellets the best. Not sure what year those pellets were from but I tried the newer ones and just couldn’t get the same ridiculous accuracy I got with those. Maybe they were aged or something I have no idea.

Another AGN encyclopedia archive worthy note!

Keep a tin or TEN TINS of the same lot batch of its most accurate pellet you shot 10-30 pellets for verified accuracy group out of each tins to confirm it's indeed has the best accuracy never use it unless you have to check if you got a bad CURRENT batch of new pellets as a tattle tale if it's the new pellets or your gun problems. (OR YOU)

Those were the Crosman Copperhead pointeds 7.9gr about 10 years ago that were sub half inch capable out to 55 yards.

They were discontinued around 5 years ago and replaced with current inferior 7.4gr pointeds which are ok in some guns.

I bought out entire lots of those 7.9gr pointed pellets when I found out the new 7.4gr weren't as keyhole accurate at 55 yards.

They were so accurate it's ridiculous out of my FWB300s and hot rodded Crosman 1701P at 55 yards as well as many of my other guns. Same as the Crosman Pointed 22 14.3gr up to 200 yard accurate in some of my PCPs and RWS 54 and 56 and 300 yards from my FX Tarantula yup THREE HUNDRED YARDS like Harry in OZ shooting 18gr JSB accurate. At 50 yards the one hole groups were like shooting at only 10 yards yup that tight. They are more accurate than the discontinued 22 caliber 14.3gr 625 count Brown box Crosman Premiers in many of my guns. The current ones come in 175 count tins. They are accurate but not quite as accurate as my old ones that are 10-20 years old.

Once the Crosman pointed dies wear out of these CURRENT production 22 Crosman 14.3gr pointed in 22 caliber then thats life!

Some buddies only shoot the current. 14.3gr Crosman pointed pellets out of their springers out to 80 yards and swear by them. They are relatively expensive for only 175 in a tin but I did post a super good unbeatable deal pricing on them not too long ago if anyone cared to pay attention.

Yeah great advice as always Yo. Okay, well here is the deal. I usually shoot the JSB heavy, and it did previously group well. Instead of 1/2”-1” at 25 yards, I am getting an embarrassing 4” spread. I’m going a little insane trying to figure it out. So I figure I’ll buy some 100 bucks in pellets and figure out whether or not it is the pellet batch or if it wants to shoot something different (not to anthropomorphize the gun but you know what I mean).

H&N FTT's

Couple years back I found the .22 caliber R9/HW95 to have an over size barrel and a larger head size was needed for better accuracy. In using FTT's I found the 5.54 and 5.55 head size to shot best. Can't speak for today's offering. With that said I prefer the R9/ HW95 platform in .20 caliber mainly because I found it to be more accurate in my experience.
