Best .22 cast bullet shooter

I'm just looking into making a swaging press for airgun slugs.

It seems that the lack of standards and use of chokes in airguns makes the diameter of the slug critical to match to the specific barrel.

Airgun slugs don't have a cartridge to align them to the bore and rely on the magazine for accurate feeding. Tolerances on the magazine as well as the shape, and length of the slug will affect how well/consistently the slug meets the rifling.

I do a lot of non-critical lead casting (fishing stuff) but suspect that cast slugs might need custom sizing to suit a specific bore for best accuracy.

Just a couple of thoughts. Please keep us posted with with your progress.

Cheers!

Thanks I'd forgotten that arsenal can make them to size. This is going to cost me some money.
For poops and giggles, I shot some of those MP Peanut 35g slugs out of my seneca eagle claw .22 today.
That gun loved the things. In fact a couple of the groups at 50 yards were under an inch for a full magazine of 10.
I was quite surprised for a gun that I had assumed was just a pellet shooter.

I would highly suggest getting a 1:16 twist .224 barrel liner from Brownells. This opens up quite a few different molds. Very little fitting required to an FX barrel system. Krale used to sell RWS .22lr bullets that work great but have been out of stock for a while now. NOE has a few molds that work well but may need some sizing down from .225. I think the biggest problem is going to be getting a deep enough magazine to fit any slug over 40gr. I did have an MK2 impact and used the eaglevision deep magazines for up to 39 grain. Love this one https://noebulletmolds.com/site/shop/bullet-moulds/224/225-39-fn-b2/225-39-fn-b2-1-cavity-gc-w-hp/

I would have no problem fitting the barrel as I have a little lathe but like you said it's the magazine that would be an issue. I would be completely happy if the gun was a single shot honestly. Didn't somebody Set up an AirForce platform with a 224 barrel set up?
I would love to have a rifle set up with a standard .224 bore and 1'16 twist .Because I have about ovee a dozen 22 caliber bullet molds I use in powder burners.
