Currently I only own one .177 cal -- I sold my others -- this one I will never part with:

Daystate Regal XL. Beautiful rifle; compact (approximately 7 lbs, 40 inches long) laser-like accuracy. High shot count, although unregulated. These rifles now come in a regulated version. I love it. Traditional rifle styling. A true work of art.

Did I say beautiful?

If you want a gun that is a very reasonable cost, light weight, very accurate, and shoulders very much like your Cricket mini, look at the .177 Brocock Bantam. Not the new Huma one, but the older one that is unregulated with the Daystate Slingshot valve system. Since it has a 480cc bottle, and its a .177 shooting about 20 fpe, you can fill to 225 bar, shoot down to about 150 bar, and get over 90 shots "on reg." By that I mean you can get about 90+ shots at 920 fps on Medium, with an ES of 20 or less. I'd say 90 shots is good enough, although if you fill higher and shoot down to 110 you'll get a lot more shots. Mine shoots the JSB 10.3 at 950 on High and 920 or so on Medium. Most accurate on Medium. There is a used one on the AGN Classifieds right now that is selling for under $700.

I've been contemplating the same thing. The rifle that I keep going back to eyeball is the BSA R10 SE. Any thoughts?

My thought is you can't go wrong. I'm sure you know this but PA is selling the R-10 Mk2 for $699 in black or camo stock. I haven't had an R-10 but had a Scorpion 1200SE in .177 and it was an absolute laser. Super long and front heavy though so I ended up parting with it. BSA makes great guns.

@2ManyAirGunz 1) Never really too many 2) I had a .22 Regal XL +1 on everything you said, but, I’m looking for something I’m not scared to tear into myself if I had to.

@Spray1Mark, same as above. I’m not a pro, and don’t want to ship guns out for fixing.

@MScottLeeMan. That too is a very tempting rifle, but I keep going back to rule 2, how easy is it to work on?

@Centercut I must admit, this one draws me the most. But, 1. How easy is it to work on? 2. Why not the Regulated model? I did see the one up, tempted, but don’t want to make an impulse buy.

Thoughts?
