Anyone have a good idea of how to rivet a tootsie roll pump handle back in place after repair so it looks original.

I know all the pump handles I removed & replaced had split pins. The pins that didn't fit the wood handle very well received a dab of elmers glue. Didn't want anything more permanent just in case I had to remove it at another time. If you want the look of a rivet you could probably put a pop rivet in the end of the split pin.

The spring pins were used and only one side of the handle was drilled and then it was pinned in place. To remove use a tiny drill that will pass through the center of the pin and drill a pilot hole through the handle. From the opposite side enlarge the hole until contact with the pin. Now save all the shavings, soak the pin for at least 2 days with oil and drift out. If more shavings are needed remove action from stock and be creative. Reassemble action mix dust with glue and back fill hole, it won't take much glue and if its water based you can thin it some to make your wood slurry.

Very early Benjamin tootsie roll pump handles had screws holding them on, then switched to solid pins maybe late 40's or early 50's.
Drive them out using a thin punch and hammer, make the repair, then tap the pins back through the handle and arm when finished. Use a nail slightly smaller than the holes to help line them back up if necessary.
