Benjamin Benjamin Marauder leaks how often? And should I continue?

For those who have one, what’s your experience with leaks? Have you resealed it with new O rings and then had leaks again?
I bought one used and it developed a slow leak. In about a week it’s down to 1000 lb. I lowered the hammer spring tension and tightened the transfer port to get it down to about 700 fps. About 4 months after that it started leaking. I’m not sure if that had anything to do with it or not…

Here’s where I’m at with it. It’s a classic gun so not a bad one to have around. Parts being readily available… not really worth the effort to sell a leaking used one. Do I tear it down and put in all the goodies like an after market valve, hammer and spring plus seals? Or is the leaking just too prevalent with these guns it’s not worth the time and effort? Thoughts?

Well, lowering the hammer spring shouldn't have any effect unless it was pushing on the valve, which I kind of doubt it was.
As to the transfer port, that also has no effect on the guns abiilty to hold air, as it is after the firing valve.

Check the obvious things first, the gauges, fill valve etc. If it's not an obvious leak that is easy to fix quicly, then it's time to tear it down and replace all the orings. The Marauder is a solid design and a great gun, but any pcp will develope leaks over time, so don't be discouraged or think that the Marauder is not robust.

They are very simple guns to rebuild. New seals and it holds air forever.

Leaks are just one of those things that happen w/ pcps.It can happen whenever to. I gotten guns brand new that leaked. Then I got guns that are atleast 8 years that never needed a oring. I guarantee there’s some neglected marauders that been sitting 10-12 years and haven’t leaked haha.

Marauders are very simple and proven designs. They are usually very reliable guns. I’m sure you could find the leak and reseal yourself. Just take your time. If you’re just a little mechanical inclined you’ll have no problems. Plenty of videos and info online to help. Plus us guys here on AGN 💪

As you mentioned there’s a ton of aftermarket parts available. That can become a deep rabbit hole once you start ahaha. I just did a PRod myself. It wasn’t a cheap learning experience but I sure had fun. Totally worth it to me. Guess it just depends if you like tinkering with stuff. I like it as much as shooting the things.

My leak experiences have been the check valve in the foster, the guage block orings (usual suspect) or the guage seat oring. There's not too many more other than valve body and air tube cap. Crc aerosol leak checker and a roto burr knife are your friend. Once the tube is deburred a little better it doesn't knick orings as easily.

This last rebuild after a deburr and captain oring kit has lasted 8 years charged the entire time.
