Benjamin Marauder Gen2 .25cal Shot string info

So I wanted to go back over the chrono and evaluate what my optimal shot string is for my pellet selection. I thought I would post the information to maybe help someone else see what the gun is capable of but overall I am very happy with the data. I was trying to figure out my best fill pressure start to finish and how many shots I could get with the least amount of ES possible while still maintaining a decent shot string.

Please let me know opinions on what you think my best shot string should be to use from this data as I am curious to see if people have different opinions !


I am not currently shooting from 3000-1900 I just want to know opinions on what you feel would be the best shot string.

I think from 2750 psi down to 2150 psi.

If you are shooting 35 yards and under I think you can fill to 3k and use all the shots in the string.

Ya most of my shots are 25 yards and under ( squirrels). I do have a new set up though for when season starts back up and I will be around 50-65 yards away so I believe I can get 3 mags or 24 shots anywhere in my 25yard range and then 16 good ones out to longer ranges.

Great to know , but ended up returning due to factory imperfections, using the money to get the 25 cal armada instead.

@CagomoC I too have heard stories of people getting "good ones" or "bad ones" . I luckily got a good one and can do .75 inch groups at 50 yards. That's good enough for hunting ! I think my next gun will be an Air Arms S-510.

To make it simple I would fill to 2800 and shoot 2 magazines. This will give you the most accurate results. You will have an extreme spread just under 20 fps and your extreme spread will be lower as it ossilates above 2900. That's about as good as you get without doing some mods. Pack a small bottle in your pack and you can still hunt all day! You should be very accurate out to 60 yards and have the power to take down small animals cleanly. To shoot past 75 yards you will need to ramp the speed at least up to 840. I have taken a couple of prairie dogs at 90 yards but it took several shots. It won't be a high percentage shot unless you ge the speed up close to 880. As you have already found out, as you increase the spead, you loose shots. 
For a non-modified Marauder, your current tune probably is the best shot count for power. I think it's the best setting for the gun (unmodified). Another member who shoots coyotes is OK to get 5-8 shots for maximum power. He is only going to shoot a few times during a hunt. You may have to widen up the transfer port.

@NMshooter I agree. I really dont take large game with it and rarely shoot long range however when i get my new gun i will tune this to shoot 8 good shots at long range. That's the plan at least lol
