Tuning Benjamin Discovery Modifications?

Input Benjamin Discovery there's several different stocks available for it.

I'd leave the internals stock.

TKO or Airgununiverse LDC add on and a Crosman Challenger trigger and trigger guard with home made credit gift card shim spacer gasket to not destroy the new sear.

I have done a few mods to the Discovery style guns or used Discovery tubes on my 22xx guns however you want to explain it. Most of the parts and mods for the 22xx guns werq on the Discovery also.

The air tubes don't have much volume so if you do any valve werq or power mods your shot count will suffer like mine does on all of the below.

Greengun; DAQ .25 24inch barrel upper, early Steve Corcoran Stock, 2240 gripframe.

Ratgun; BNM Breech, Blue Fork Design Gripframe, Grips and stock off of my S&W MP15, FX .22 STX liner for the barrel.

Arrowgun; Shortened Discovery tube, DAQ 9MM upper, Cothran valve, Crosman Custom Shop 2250 gripframe, grips and stock.

Silencer adapter and aluminum tube for arrow barrel.

The Disco/Maximus/Fortitude has allot of stock options, that many airguns don't. On the low cost end, the wood disco and syn maximus. The syn will make your disco lighter and can take the abuse of field hunting. Last time I bought one from crosman, only $18. Good to have one, just for field hunting.

As mentioned by Doyle, Boyd's offers an array of stocks for the disco. More than it does for the Mrod. Many color and other options. The Spike Camp is their newest addition, and more value priced than compared to the others.

While I don't have a Disco per say, all my equivalent rifles have the Challenger/Mrod G1 trigger. That will run around $50 w/guard. There is a three screw and spring mod that will improve the oem trigger, too. It still won't be close to Challenger, but is a big improvement and very little cost.

The biggest problem with these guns is not falling too far down the rabbit hole. The mod bug is very contagious and may never go away :)

Add a power adjuster and do a good crown on the barrel and go hunting....I purchased mine in 2007 and it has good power (.22 cal 905 FPS 26 FPE using JSB 14.3 express)

I was looking at those earlier today and decided that’s definitely where I wanted to buy my stock from, is there anyway to change the barrel though? I won’t lie I was quite the rookie when I got the gun and feel as though the barrel has probably suffered some abuse since then, also just wanted a new barrel to try and improve accuracy.

The new Crosman 22 in house barrels are improved over the old ones.

I would put a longer Maximus HUNTER barrel on it and a TKO or cheaper Airgun Universe LDC.

To try to get one of the new barrels, order the part number for the 22 Maximus. Still not a 100% guarantee you will get one, but chances are better these days. The old stock was not flushed out.

FWIW: After it was openly discussed about the new process barrels, and from posts I read, it was introduced first on the Maximus, I ordered some 177 and 22 barrels. They appeared to me, the same as the old. They did have burrs on the TP and some crown issues. ;) I would check your current barrel for that, first.

Crosman doesn't have a 22 LW option for the Disco/Maximus. A custom machined one would run over $200. The hole is getting deeper. ;)

I told myself i’d try and keep it under 500 but the stock plus LW barrel would almost take up my whole budget right away. I either put more money in it or try one of the cheaper barrels, to me it’s just hard to spend 600-900 dollars on it when with that kind of money I could just get a new gun that would probably out preform it. It would be so sweet though, tough decisions....
