Benjamin Akela - Maintenance

Recently acquired the Benjamin Akela, but unfortunately, I am not finding anything as far as basic maintenance of the gun - such as oiling, etc. The manual doesn't cover this topic at all. Nothing found on Crosman's site either, searching under the following model BPA77W, or name Akela. If anyone can share a link to this information and even a parts diagram, I would be very grateful.

i’ve not had to do anything to my Akela yet except feed it a steady diet of clean dry air and 18.13 JSBs. She purrs like a kitten high on catnip.

No need to oil

Thanks Jim. Very new to PCP, this is my first... previously, I've only owned multipump and break barrel so want to make sure I'm maintaining it as necessary. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, that's interesting. A drop or two of oil on moving metallic parts ALWAYS helps. Trigger pivot, sear, sear pivots, trigger linkage, cocking lever, cocking lever linkage...IS...a positive and warranted thing.

Hopefully you use oil in the various parts of your car/truck, etc..!

i agree with the above, alittle oil on moving parts is a good idea and i would always use a pellet gun specific oil around airguns, no dino oils .. a good silicone lube on orings regularly will definitely extend their life and mainly on 'wear' orings you need to worry about it, like breech seals and fill coupler seals .. and of course a wiping down of external metal parts, i like to treat all my guns with air venturi mp-5 oil occasionally, and then i wipe the whole gun and action down with whatever oil i got out when cleaning silicone or pelletgun oil .. one thing, got to be careful with unifinished wood like on the akela if you dont want to darken it, id keep oil away from it, remove it while messing with oil and wash your hands ..

Another off-topic question...

Can the .177 Akela be EASILY tuned to ~12fpe? This would be with ~10.5 grain domed pellets.

I am considering one, but ONLY if I can tune it down simply and easily.
