Benjamin 397 velocity

The 317 is a sweetheart, way easier to pump than the 397. Re-sealed my 50's version a couple years ago, shoots dead on. These tootsie roll guns are getting harder to find, at one time I had the whole line of them, kept the 317 because it shot the best.

The number of pumps you give those Benjamins and Sheridans depend on the altitude you live at. Here in Montana, at close to 4000 feet elevation, you need more pumps that at sea level. And springers don't wok as well here as at sea level, which is why I am strictly a PCP fan when it comes to airguns.

Don't remember the exact velocity, but my Benjamin Sheridan Blue Streak .20 makes 15 FPE with heavy pellets. The Bemjamins are rated at around 14 FPE, and the pellet weight mainly determines the velocity that can be attained.

It takes around 15 pumps to get to maximum velocity at my altitude.
