Benjamin 392 And 397

Ah. You have 'heard' somebody's opinion, then. I, and looks like others, would have a different opinion. I like 22's for several reasons, one of which is that it's just easier to handle the ammo. If you have ordered the .22, I wouldn't spend a lot of time trying to reorder a .177. From the distances you say you shoot at...3-5 yards...there will be no difference in accuracy.

To be clear I believe that 177 has 2 qualities that can help with accuracy. If you dont want to account for bullet drop the faster moving 177 drops less so you get a few more yards before having to take it into account using mil dots on a scope or clicks on an adjustable open sights or using a couple techniques with your open sights. Also if your shooting field target litterally the smaller pellet gives you a small room for error just by its virtue of being smaller. Thats it as far as i know.

well I was basing that on what I seen for real guns. a 17 hmr rifle can hit a 100 yards with great accuracy. a 22 can't. lol. I would like to have both a 392 and a 397 and if the company I ordered the 392 from can't get it cancelled in time then I will end up with both the 392 and 397. Lol. I only gave the 20 caliber silver streak I used to have 3 pumps.

Geez! For what you can buy either one for, I agree: Buy both!

I've added the necessary parts to both of mine, and screwed on a TKO suppressors. A minor mod to the value assemblies, a SuperSear for both, and either one will keep 3/8 groups at 25 yards. But...

If you want to stretch out to a true 75 to 90 yards, the .22 will get you there if the wind isn't blowing. The .177? Nah!

well I had to get one on credit. the other was suppoused to be on credit to but I forgot to set it up to go on credit. I should be getting a refund from the Beeman ar2078b I had that had problems so I sent it back. I should be getting 190.95 in credit back for that. I only get 100 us dollars a week and have about 200 a month in bills to pay. Plus I'm trying to save money. I had over 900 saved up but I blew most of it because my parents didn't think I need that money saved right now. I used to have a target trap and shoot in the basement with the silver streak 20 caliber I used to own. A pellet never hit the wall because the pellet rifle never missed. Lol. Target shooting got boring to me so I sold that silver streak rifle for the same price I paid for it. 40 bucks. lol.

You should come here and see what airguns are going for on the classifieds before selling them. If you had a streak that shot straight you probably could have gotten 140 at least. You got robbed on that deal. If you ever have any questions just make a thread we will give it to you straight. You picked a great rifle though and I am sure you will enjoy it.

That was in the 1990s when I had the silver streak. I didn't know where to go to to find the value of that air rifle back then. I wasn't even online or have a computer in the 1990s.

.........i would have went with the .22 - could have steroided that one later. the .177 hole and barrel dont really let enough air thru to be power modded................i used to be a guy who only used .177 , so i get it. and .177 is hard to get away from completely. too many airgun models perform better in .177 (for ex : fwb124, uk webley longbow)...........but i jumped in here because all of my sheridans WAY out perform any benjamin in accuracy - especially with 13.7 gr jsb pellets. i've been trying for years to find a .22 benjamin that could contend with any sheridan i have . i finally gave up. - paul.

Ha ha. Ok Paul. I took my 397 to the shooting range today. I got 3 bucks off the range cost to rent for a half a hour. I shot 2 and 3 inch targets but the 397 shot high some. It usually still made the targets. Then I took out my 12 inch target.I made 3 shots on it. 2 were bullseyes. That was at the closer 5 marker in a indoor shooting range.
