Benjamin 2600 re-seal

Hi , I am trying to install new seals into a Benjamin 2600 I recently acquired and when I load in the co2 it just empties right out. My question is ..after removing the lock ring-washer-piercing rod-spring-exhaust valve/rod- there is a black o-ring around the base inside of the chamber..I had to dig out the old original and now have (what I believe to be the correct ) black rubber o-ring just pressed into a trough in place...1st rebuilt it with a white hard plastic exhaust rod/seal and 'poof''gas goes away..dis-assembled and used an exhaust rod/seal from the earlier Benjamin series that is brass with the rubber sealing surface laying against the gas valve opening..re-assembled and...'poof' gas just runs right out----- question----- is there some mechanism that is supposed to be holding the larger black o-ring inside the gas housing in place , it seems to be just sitting in a race with no reason and can -lift-shift-move-etc..after three times I am needing input please..thanks , Randy

Also…is there any chance their is any relevant video showing reseal..for some context I graduated from the Bulova School of Watch Making in 1976…got immediately side tracked several years with Family Mining business then finally back to Watchmaking 40 years ago . Did a stint of Gunsmithing from 1990 to 2001 certified Colt Single action Army and semi-automatic Gas and Recoil auto..Notw71 and really enjoying the new challenge on SSP..multi pump air and ….co2 is for some reason kicking my butt on this 2600..HOWEVER I did successfully rebuild a Crosman600 as my first co2 and runs great ( some timimg adjustments…cool. ) go figure. :-/. I haven't worked on that particular pistol so I can't offer much in the way of guidance, but I found the owners manual. It has the parts list as well. There's some good information there. Youtube may have some info that will be of help, too. I do know that regular rubber o-rings don't work well with co2. They absorb the gas and swell, then fail.

i just watched it and i did everything the same..I may need to polish the escape valve seat more.., actually I am not certain I am using the correct base perimeter black o-ring...possible wrong size and sounds like gas is leaving past the valve area..basicaly immediatly..like no o-ring at all . will see if I can source the one he mentioned...he was just kind of quick when mentioning it .

i would think that the stem seal is not an Oring but flat sheet goods and the material would need to be urethane
i have been looking at the parts diagram in the owners manual
the stem is like most of the stems that Benjamin used in all these CO2 pistols
the stem is also like a S&W 78-79g
the Oring just is not sealing the same as flat goods would

I have been using the one sent along with a kit for EBay which was a hard white “delrin”? Material exhaust valve-but the nib on the end that fit into the receiver hole in the end of the striker rod was too wide and I had to turn it down on my 8mm Watchmaker Lathe. Once it fits I’ve tried three times (starting to question material) your suggestion looks like the old exhaust valve and I will try it for sure now .
EXPERIMENT…
Just today I tried again thinking possible that hammer spring may be too strong ( or ) striker return spring too weak and was allowing the exhaust valve to kind of float..so I placed the cartridge in … set hammer pulled the trigger..popped the co2….weak gas sound..set hammer..2nd pull on trigger…loud gas sound ( usual at this point ) immediately reset the hammer to pull away from the exhaust valve to allow striker spring to have mechanical advantage…and gas got louder…total surprise to me. Well so much for theories. :)
