Beeman RX-1 Gas ram

First post. I have owned a Beeman RX-1 "commemorative edition" (1 of 25) for many years. Its been in the closet for a long time and the gas spring has lost its charge.

I would like to start shooting again but not sure I want to spend a ton of money to send it off and get the thing repaired. Doing a quick google search it appears beaman used a gas ram from someone else?

If so, is this an available part that can be replaced by user with appropriate tools?

Thanks in advance.

Rich

Pretty sure the ram is rebuildable on those with plain orings. Call David Slade at Airgunwerks and ask him about it. He's the guru on the Theoben rams. He can repair it for you, or maybe tell/sell you what you need.

But either way, you will need a way to charge it with air once it's back together so you will need the adapter and a pump of some sort.. So if you got Martin on the phone, ask him. He's a couple miles down the road from David anyway.

I second what thumper posted. The Theoben gas ram that is in your airgun is definitely rebuildable (if need be). Many people do not realize that the RX-1 and RX-2 were made by Weihrauch with a Theoben gas ram. My RX-2 has Theoben stamped on the breach block but the back end of the ram tube has "Made in Germany" stamped on it. David Slade is definitely the man to talk with and also do work on it.

PM ME YOUR PHONE NUMBER I WILL DO A STEP BY STEP HOW TO COMPLETELY REBUILD THAT RX1 YOURSELF IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY AND NOT WANT TO SEND OUT AND PAY FOR THE REBUILD I CAN LET YOU BORROW ONE OF MY OEM UK THEOBEN PUMPS JUST COVER ROUND TRIP SHIPPING AND INSURANCE BUT ITS CHEAPER TO ORDER THAT ADAPTER TO SCREW INTO YOUR PCP HAND PUMP FROM MARTIN THAT WAY YOU CAN CHANGE POWER LEVELS ANYTIME YOU WANT OVER A CRONY 80%-90% CHANCE JUST PUMPING IT SHOULD GET IT TO WORK WITHOUT ANYTHING ELSE NEEDING TO BE DONE EXCEPT JUST ENJOY SHOOTING IT EVERY DAY IF IT NEEDS PARTS I CAN COACH YOU HOW TO REPLACE WHATEVER NEEDS DONE JUST BUY THE PARTS.

I'm not sure why repairing airguns seems to be a very big deal to some people and many always say that it needs to be sent to someone professional to fix when you can just fix everything yourself and save time and money and learn about your own gun at the same time??? Maybe they are all getting a commission for the referrals???

As soon as you get the green light from Martin with that fitting maybe ask him if he has a pump laying around maybe he can make a deal with you. It's a good thing to have like a power adjuster for your gun. Tap the rear and let out some air to shoot smoother lower fpe then you pump it back over a chrony any time thats what the gun was designed to do adjust the power.

If Martin doesn't have a pump but sells you that fitting order a $29 Aliexpress PCP pump that takes 6-8 weeks from China or pay double to triple the price (or 4x or 5x) for the same pump from Amazon.

I am just going to purchase a pump. I have the fitting on order. Appreciate all your help Yo.

So do I need to get a hold of a chrono to charge it properly?

Chrono is an absolute necessity to get it so you never destroy that ram by overpumping it since you pump then take a shot over the chrony pump take another shot over the chrony and so on till it maxes at factory spec then STOP! Then tap that cap to release some air. A Caldwell all in one bag tripod and shooting light kit is good.

Well with Yo's help I am going to replace all that :)

But good info. I live on an acreage now so will be easier to shoot more often. If only I could do that with the AR15 I just built!

Buy a 300 blackout upper kit and reload your own subsonic rounds. Build a tall rock wall around the perimeter of your property. There's a barrel adapter that's 1/2x28 to NAPA oil filter threads that I can't tell you what it's for you just have to find out for yourself if you got big balls.
