Beeman R9 or HW 95 weight ready to go???

I've been doing tons of research on the forums abroad trying to figure out which spring gun would best suit my needs.

I'm not what you consider a paper puncher. I do shoot at paper when sighting in and checking zero. But mostly its at field target animals, metal spinners or tin cans.

I won't buy an airgun I can't use for squirrel or rabbit hunting. This leads me to ask two questions.

1-For those who have or have owned a Beeman R9. what was the weight scoped and ready to go?

2- I also noticed that there seems to be a Beeman R model for alot of the HW models, Like R9 is almost a HW95? Is there any difference in build quality between the two or are they about the same?

Thanks Ray

While I don't Yet own an R9/HW95,I do own several other Beemans (Not referring to the newer Chinese manufactured "Beemans"!) and HW's.

Beeman was an importer and sold their slightly "spruced-up" versions of the HW's,with fancier stocks and so forth. The heart of the rifles/pistols was still an HW (Weihrauch),so the actual build quality is identical. If/when I purchase the HW95 it will be the HW95 Lexus in .22

Check out the AEAC Review of this rifle. Steve does an Excellent job and I believe he always discloses the actual "shoot ready" weight of the airguns he chooses to review...of course it depends on your scope of choice.

Hope this helps Ya!

Mike.

My decision making factor on those rebrand options is open sights a requirement. That might help you choose.
Take note any European gun from KRAL is way cheaper than any gun from over seas sold here in USA. Even with shipping. That gives you an idea of the mark up. So while you might see a price difference consider why. They’re both as good as the other.

Nor sure about weight but you would be hard pressed to fine a better Springer. The rekord trigger amoung best in business. This one love jsb 8.4 head size 4:53 @ 860 fps mv and brain dead accurate out to 50. The r9 should be part of your collection. A must have imo.

Weight of my favorite springer overall (R9) is as follows:

177 cal --- barrel is chopped and choked (14") with full shroud --- UTG 3-9 scope/rings --- older style stock with thinner wrist ---------->9.2lbs

This 177 barrel shoots JSB 8.4g Exact pellets at 880fps (approx 3000' elevation) if interested.

Weight of another R9 I own with an 'experimental' barrel I picked up years ago is as follows:

22 cal --- barrel is chopped and choked (8") with full shroud --- Hawke 2-7 scope --- UTG rings --- older style stock with thinner wrist ---------->8lbs

This 22 "stubby" 8" barrel shoots Cros 14.3g pellets at around 640fps (approx 3000' elevation) if interested. I pushed the tune to get this speed but with a conventional tune speed was around 580fps. The full shround was required to cock the gun in a same manner/effort of a standard barrel.

Wow, never seen an R9 with a laminate stock. Nice

Dang, that's about what my Mrod weighs ready to hunt! I always thought most break barrel springers were under 9 lbs. Guess I was wrong about that.

That's one reason I'm asking about the R9 because I originally and still do lust after a HW97 but read another members post about his being over 11 lbs scoped.

Now that's a lot of steel and lumber to be lugging around in the squirrel woods :)

Thanks

Ray

Yes sir, that's another reason to want to get back in to springers. I have a 4500 psi SCBA tank and the hydro is out. So do I spend the money to get it hydro'd, get another tank or put that cash toward a really nice springer??
