First post here and have done some research on the forum for the answers, so bear with me since I know this has been covered before.
I have two rats remaining (I hope, but I am sure there are some babies now) after shooting at least 6 in the past few months. All my shooting was before noon, though most shot were a few hours after sunrise, all around the bird feeder. They don't activate traps, electric or traditional and don't trust peanut butter since a low shot sprayed into one's eyes.
The rats have gone nocturnal on me, I have a Hikvision IR wireless camera on the area around their hole and see when they are active.
I need a scope that I can see them with at night. I have looked at the ATN and read comments here about them, but at the moment this and all decent night scopes are out of my price range.
Since I have an infrared light shining on my target area from the camera, is there a scope that sees infrared that doesn't have it's own IR light?
Also, what are my other scope options for night time ratting?
Any bait suggestions? What works best? I started last night using Nutella, been using Snicker bars hot glued to stationary objects, as well as sardines, all with some element of interest by the rats, but nothing that makes them throw caution to the wind.
What are other air rifle shooters best practices to get a rat to stop for a moment for a good shot?
Thanks!
