I have a Beeman R9 that I have written about before on this forum, that back in June of last year, I repowered with a Vortek PG3 HO kit, leaving it shooting very smoothly at 780 fps or about 15.3 fpe with the H&N 11.42 pellet. While it was producing solid groups averaging about .4" C-t-C at 18 yards, I felt it could probably do better. With the weather very cold and windy this morning Indiana and nothing much better to do, I stripped it down and cut 1 1/2 coils off. This reduced the velocity to an average of about 740 with the H&N 11.42 Gr pellet, or +/- 14 FPE.
Testing the H&N 11.42, the JSB Exact 13.73, and the Daystate Emperor 15.89 Grain pellets, except for one flyer, I was able to get the groups down to .25" with the 13.73. It still hits the steel RX knockdown targets like a hammer, and the groups are nice and condensed, not strung out.
The center target was used to establish basic zero to start testing.
A good way to spend the morning.
