Beeman R10 Tune up: A shout out and big thank you to member bdzjlz

I’m sending a big thank you to member bdzjlz. He worked his magic and restored the life in my old Beeman R10. I was just a teen when I bought my first “real” air rifle in 1986. It was a Beeman R10 Deluxe. Being a kid I’m sure the rifle didn’t always receive the best care it deserved. Flash forward to now and the rifle has been sitting in my safe unused for many years. The spring broke sometime in the past and though it would shoot it was doing about 400 fps.

After discussing my rifle with bdzjlz he agreed to take a look at my rifle and see what needed to be fixed. I don’t know all “ins and outs” of a springer or all the proper terms so hopefully he will pop in here and offer some more details. What he did though was to replace parts and tune up the “ole girl” and bring her back to life. He send me chronograph data showing a return to her classic performance and the accuracy is outstanding. Below are a few targets with five shot groups that I shot yesterday. These are only in my backyard which is limited to about 16 yards but I am very happy with the results. The cocking and shot cycles are so smooth and free of any “buzz or boing” sounds. 
Hopefully bdzjlz can join in and give a better description of his great work on my rifle. He did a great job and I’m very thankful to have my old rifle working again.

I know that you and your rifle have a lot of great memories together so glad to help, Kenny. In an over simplification, this rifle required a new Vortek PG3 spring kit, new breach and piston seals, a new style cocking shoe, and a new safety spring plus cleaning and relube. It should be good for thousands of additional shots. Enjoy!

That's awesome, Kenny! Best of luck with your now-healthy R10! I just picked up a used, tuned Deluxe R10 in .20 cal, and its a laser. Found out it likes Barracudas, and a light hold. Once I figured that out, I was shooting bughole groups at 40 yards, without much effort. I have a few airguns from back in the day, including an old Sheridan whose stock I tried to checker, lol. Still have it and it brings back many good memories.
