Beeman Prices???

There is currently a Beeman R1 on eBay that is over $500 with 5 days to go. The gun is listed as very nice, but it is missing the front sight, has the wrong rear sight, some freckling on the metal, and normal handling marks on the wood. I know that anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, but what gives? I own a few R1s that are in better shape that I picked up for under $400. Maybe I need to look over my collection again, at these prices, I may be able to retire... Did I miss something and these things got a lot more desirable? I have many airguns, but Beemans are the ones I look for and I have several R1s. They are built like and tank (and are nearly as heavy), the fit and finish are incredible, they are easily serviceable, and will last a lifetime, but I could never justify this kind of price. Has there been a swing in the market?

Been that way for a year or so now. People either asking insane prices or paying them. Watched a Beeman R10 .20 go for $1075 plus shipping 5 or 6 months back. Sheridan pumpers you used to be able to grab for $175 to $200 now starting at $300 or more and if you want a real spit your coffee moment, look at some of the prices people want for pellets.

Probably also a few of the buyers that grabbed those Uamarex Diana rifles for stolen prices now selling off and trying to double if not more what they paid.

Oh yeah..1 more. This guy:

Him I actually sent a message to with Blue Book values for his rifle. He said yep, he knew all that but it has sentimental value and his original asking price actual started higher than what it currently is...lol.

Check out this very clean FWB 127D (San Anselmo). Gun wasn't even functioning.
