"ajshoots"Thanks for the reply!! Never thought of the screw idea. That seems like a wonderful idea. I thought about going the Dremel route, but figured it would be very time consuming doing that that way.

Was the Dremel method any harder or did it require alot more time?
Dremel method is tedious and requires a bit more patience, but in my mind offers an advantage or two. It is important to aim that burr straight down to keep it from skating across the wood. It is easier to clean palm grunge with a tooth brush since there are less nooks and crannies or porosity. Would be easy to revert to conventional stippling over the top of it if it did not turn out how you like too.

...with checkered screw head replacing the threaded tip was an idea I had as a kid. Was actually the first gunsmithing idea I had that impressed my dad, who has been gunsmithing since Christ was a Corporal.
