BCSA (Binghamton, NY) - September 13th, 2025 Match Report
Broome County Sportsmens Association (BCSA) Field Target Match Report
Another match done at BCSA! Carbon copy of last months match. A dry warm day with light wind and low humidity. The canopies were not set up again this time and the trees provided us plenty of shade.
We had 18 people on hand for this match which was a 60 shot rifle match followed by a 40 shot Pistol Field Target match. We had 2 new to BCSA competitors on hand to join us for the match. Laura Setikas Dyke and Alan Dyke joined us for the day since their daughter is attending college in the area. They will be back again! We had some treats too….Karen Reis brought along some lemon poppy seed muffins for everyone to enjoy……Thanks Karen!
Sight-in:
The course of fire for the rifle match was 10 lanes with 3 targets per lane, 2 shots per target, with the shooting order being left, middle, right. There was also the usual 1 standing lane and 1 kneeling lane. Due to the upcoming Pyramyd Air Cup, the course was setup a bit more difficult. The stats for the 60 shot course are as follows:
The breakdown for the percentage of targets based on difficulty was:
The wind was pretty light and the skies were bright for the rifle portion of the day. As usual, there were targets in light unprotected areas and targets in dark protected areas along with everything in between! Brian VanLiew and Karen Reis were able to lock in high scores for the day with a 51 out of 60. Brian in Open PCP and Karen in Hunter PCP . The second highest score for the day was a 50 out of 60 from Stephan Hottenrott in Hunter PCP. The rest of the pack followed behind and all the scores can be seen below.
One quick cold line was called due to a string coming off. The quick clip decided it wanted to take a break. Reclipped and all was well so the match continued on.
After the conclusion of the rifle match, while the scores were tallied, everyone jumped in and helped pick up and pack away the rifle targets and pull the strings for the Pistol targets. As always, Thank You All, the help is greatly appreciated!
Pistol Field Target Time!
The course of fire was 10 lanes having 2 targets per lane with one of those being a standing lane. The course stats were as follows.
8 people participated this time around. 7 people competed in pistol while Doug Rogers took the opportunity to get in some kneeling practice.
Had a quick cold line call due to a string getting caught under the hinge bolt on the target.
Nathan Thomas took first with a 34/40 followed by the Brians, Wagner & Vanliew with 33s.
After the match was completed, everyone jumped in and we made quick work of packing away all the targets! As always, all the help is GREATLY GREATLY appreciated!
