BCSA (Binghamton, NY) - July 9th, 2022 Match Report

The 3rd Match of 2022 at Broome County Sportsmens Association (BCSA) is in the books….and what another awesome day! This is basically the same conditions as our last match. For match time, the weather started out near 60 degrees with light wind around 5 - 7mph. The day finished with temps around 75 with wind gusts to near 15 mph! Most of those gusts were during the pistol /10m / practice match which made things very interesting, especially for the low powered shooters. Sunshine….shadows….lots of smiling faces….and yet another awesome day!!

Thursday after work, my wife Pat and I went down and trimmed and mowed to get a jump on match preparation. Friday came, and Pat and I met Bill Campbell and Louis Hopewell around noon to get the targets all set. We went lane by lane and set the 5 targets in each lane, 3 rifle targets and 2 pistol/10m targets. Within a few hours time, the course was set! Many thanks to Bill and Louis for helping out, greatly appreciated.

As is our usual routine, Pat and I arrived at the range around 6:00 am to start pulling strings and put the final touches on the field target range. After finishing pulling strings, we headed over to set the sight-in range.

Due to prior commitments, family vacations and such, we had 12 competitors for the day. Stephan and Karen made a return trip to BCSA and also first timers to our range were brothers Trevor and Thom Davies! Thom is a regular at the Oklahoma City Gun Club made the longest trip of the day! Ok, he was actually visiting his brother in Pennsylvania and they made the drive up from there in order to spend the day with us. Welcome! Hopefully Trevor will be joining us more often!

The course of fire was 10 lanes with 3 targets per lane. 2 shots per target with the shooting order being left, middle, right. There was also the usual 1 standing lane and 1 kneeling lane. The stats for the days 60 shot course are as follows:

We had one quick cold line due to one of the key rings partially blocking the KZ. Just a quick slight rotation and all was well! The string getting caught up on the Egrets foot is still no longer an issue! The fix is still working perfectly.

This month, Trevor Davies took Match high honors for the day with a 42 in Hunter PCP followed right behind was his brother Thom with a 39. Right behind Thom was Tom Wade with a 38 and Chuck Senkus rocking his new Daystate Red Wolf to a 37! Tight race there! Karen topped Stephan by 1 point this time around. Pretty sure that little side battle will continue next month!

After the conclusion of the rifle match, just before resetting for the pistol match, we held a drawing for another Pyramyd Air Gift card! Pyramyd Air has graciously provided $300 worth of gift certificates to use for prizes!!! Pyramyd has also provided our club with targets to be used at our matches! For the drawing, we put 5 tickets in a bucket (2 -$25, 2 - $50 and 1- $100) and drew 1. We will draw 1 each match until all are awarded. Today’s draw was for $50. Each competitor was given 1 ticket and after mixing up the tickets in the bucket and having Janet Manktelow reach in and pick one. This time around, Trevor Davies came out victor! Congrats!! Trevor had a GREAT day at BCSA and we hope to see him many more times at BCSA! We want to thank Pyramyd Air for their generosity and support and hope that you be sure to visit them for all your airgun needs! https://www.pyramydair.com/

We also did a drawing for a couple Noteworthy swinger targets. Louis Hopewell was the first winner and was awarded the triceratops target and Karen Reis was the second and was awarded a squirrel target. Congrats! After the drawings, everyone jumped in and helped pick up and pack away the rifle targets and pull the strings for the pistol targets. Thank You All!

Once set, 5 of us took to the lanes for the pistol/low powered non magnified/practice match! The single non-magnifed competitor for the day was Doug Rogers. The other 4 of us all shot Hunter Pistol!

The course of fire was 10 lanes with 2 targets per lane. 2 shots per target with the shooting order being left, right. There were 2 standing lanes and the stats for the days 40 shot course are as follows:

As always, after the match was finished, everyone remaining jumped in and we made super quick work of the cleanup! All the help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks to all that came out, especially those from a far!!!

What a blast guys! Thanks for doing what you did to put this event on! It was great to shot around everyone the way we did, got to meet more people and see more Airguns! From start to finish the match was like a well oiled machine. Looking forward to next month.

I need to figure out how to change my Prod over to a .177 pistol! 🤔
