I got my BB gun out to scare the black birds off my feeders. It does not seem to be doing what it once did. I ran it over the crony and got some steady readings of 199 198 199. Any one know if that is about right? Or is my spring wearing out?? Thanks Much Brian Smith <><

Sounds about right to me. There was a "red ryder challenge" a few years back at the FT Nationals ( and a lot in TX) some folks were buying several red ryders - looking for an "advantage" - running them all through a chrony and returning the laser example, you will NEVER see 300fps or whatever they claim the max fps to be.
Side note, BB's DO vary!
About one year ago I was given a jar ( plastic bottle like a large honey squirt bottle) filled my red ryder and 760 and neither fired! UGH! Had to get all the BB's out, grabbed a paper tube of BB's put one in each rifle and they worked great, re-tried the bottle BB's ( Crosman) wonty fit in the barrel. Change ammo lately?
That drop of oil never hurts.

I did just get some new BBs from WM. It just seems kinda flat. Almost sounds out of sorts. Can't put my finger on it. had it a long time. maybe time for a new one. Brian
