Battle Mountain… Complete Bull

I’ve gotta say this is a fantastic event. Very well run, absolutely gorgeous scenery, everything worked flawlessly. No target failures.
The food on both Saturday and Sunday was gourmet burgers and exquisite sausages, USDA prime perhaps!

The event was incredibly appropriately challenging. I absolutely loved it. Everything ranging from angled shots to large canyons, to deceptive wind. The lanes were cleared well, without sight impediments. No obscured targets, appropriate for all shooter heights. There was a beautiful babbling brook oasis that we shot up against that calmed the nerves.
Wildlife abound as you’ve seen by the click bait. Birds, butterflies, other flying, jumping things. Walking steak through the camp and the course. They built a fun gathering center under a canopy that everybody enjoyed hanging out under enjoying libations after the day’s events.

Truly the Wild West. Even the drive to the event which took me a fun 14 hours was incredibly beautiful traveling through Nevada wide open territories that are just stunning.

Oh… And don’t let the slogan “are you tough enough“ fool you… I found out it was actually the city motto of Battle Mountain 🤣. Don’t be scared… It was a pleasant event.

Thanks to all those that worked so hard to put this event on. Your efforts are certainly noticed.

Kindest regards

Garrett

More pictures to come when I get a better signal… Since Wayne left, we don't have any Starlink Wi-Fi high-speed Internet, lol

This was probably the most weather friendly weekend that I have ever been at this event.

I agree with everything that Garrett said, it was extraordinarily well run with zero issues and such great company.

You will push yourself as a shooter, it will be a little difficult to get to but I recommend that every FT shooter with an adventurous side needs to travel to this event at least once.

Click the link : Video of the situation

It speaks for itself. 🤣
Yeah , been there ,done that ,& have the scars & arthritis to prove it! Just last week I pulled up to glass a field & noticed a head w/ flicking ears on the wrong side of the pasture fence. Just about to hit the send button on a text to the farmer when a worker drove up to feed the barn cows. I called to him & pointed out the situation. He called another worker to assist & two of us did a wide swing through the tall hay , where I promptly stepped in a G-hog hole & went down! Somethings never let you leave the farm:rolleyes:. No harm though other than some grass stains on the pants knees. At least we didn't have to fix fence or restring targets !

Now that was a fun 5 days in the Nevada high desert !!!
Great folks all around, tasty lunches ... seriously challenging shots and those switchy winds keep ya on your game !!!

You make the trek out there ... survive 2 or 3 days of shooting & live to talk about it ... YOU ARE TOUGH ENOUGH !!!

What a bonus ... driving north off Hwy 50 at Austin, we saw no less than 200+ Wild Mustangs and a few Antelope with youngins :D

Another Great year at the "toughest event on earth"
Epic venue with great hosts and participants.
Here's a compilation of shooters in the box on day 1 and 2 as well as reward ceremony.
Great to see all of you!
Very nice video ( love the end shot )

Great video and comments. I don't think AirGun Oregon has missed any of these super fun and challenging events. I think this was the lightest winds we have ever seen, but also they switched more than we have ever seen in the past as well, including going neutral a lot of the time when the flags were saying otherwise. This caused a lot of misses, especially for those with less wind mastering equipment out of the barrel... which allowed those competitors to stay around the KZ most of the time. The 36T course that I bet had a very low standard deviation, would not allow for any wrong guesses or wobbling around in your hold.

And after a grueling challenging day on the course, the campground came alive with comradery extraordinaire, enhanced with 400mbps WIFI from my Starlink setup. This is one of my most favorite places to spend 4 days... every year. Thanks Jim and Chris for all the hard work to put this together each year... it just gets better every year!

We will have a video for your enjoyment out in a couple days too... stay tuned:)

I'm surprised that Bill C didn't do better. He's a beast, usually. Maybe his foot surgery made things difficult?
Switchy winds had nearly everyone dropping shots on targets out in the open on the lower course & left them scratching there heads
On sunday Thane & myself started on #5 quickly getting into the more protected lanes, tho by design ( Evil match director ) placed us in the open lanes to finish as the afternoon winds picked up.
Lanes 2 & 3 I personally dropped 7 shots !!! only getting 1, as to the wind was unreadable as Wayne had stated in post #12. Line to target said one thing, ribbons on target post another, wind flag on rifle another. Shoot up the middle it missed, correct what string says, miss, shoot what on rifle flag says ... miss. Nearly every one who entered the lower course late in match suffered greatly. But DAMN what a fun match it is !!

* Reality being ... luck did play a big part as to ones timing in the box and what the winds within that 5 minuets handed you
