Barricade Stop aka Verticle grip aka place to stop the sticks

My C5 is disintegrating. It started in my late 20's. There is tennis and golfers elbow on both sides. I have an OS Acromium in both shoulders. A bulging disk between S1-L7. And I'm flat footed. No less, or more broken than any other 45yr old tradesman. You can excersize and stretch your way into mobility. The body remembers. Oh, don't worry about eating healthy either. It will happen naturally as you improve. All from experience.

As for the disease, you've found a sport that allows you to dress up your dolls. Enjoy it. We all do.
It's now ALMOST September 2025 and I'm still at it - the quest for the perfect barricade stop. This time I am working with my Thomas HFT rig and my 3 EFT rifles to get it "mostly" right or as stable as possible.

For the first picture, my Thomas is using a UIT to Picatinny adapter which is minimalistic AND a perfect stop for my Rekon sticks pic #2. This UIT to Pic adapter is made by Rapid Air Worx - taint cheap.

I am still sorting through my final choice for my EFT rig....

A .25 Blackwolf in a chassis that is M-LOK on the forend.
A RAW .25 HMX1000 which is M-LOK on the forend.
A .25 Redwolf in a PRS chassis which gives you a choice of Arca or UIT on the forend.

Chassis type stocks create an additional fitment issue for bipods and sticks because the chassis are typically wider than our trigger stick yoke heads, and the chassis frames often cover the bottle preventing using the bottle as a rest point before it bumps up to the chassis.

PRS in the UK makes a super cool M-LOK to UIT conversion adapter which a fellow shooter has on his .177 Blackwolf; not pictured here but a link is provided below (currently out of stock) and tariff issues are in play.

Rudy, why don't you to experiment with simply using the chassis as your "barricade stop"? Ie, rest the air tube in your bipod yoke.

I do this with various guns and don't experiment any sort of poi shift issues. And you certainly shouldn't with a robustly built Thomas.
I've done this with all my airguns = using the chassis / air source as my initial barricade stop while learning the nuances about a new rifle or pistoli, but it tends to mar the stocks and I find it a bit more tipsy. My TM1000 pistols have a deep well between the air bottle and chassis so i have kept that method for them... but again they can be tipsy if I'm not on my game.

I suspect my success with using the air tube to set the yoke of my shooting sticks on and the chassis/stock as a stop has much to do with my preference for shooting sticks over the myriad "yoked" options. Exception being the pistol, I squeeze my shooting sticks with my left hand, pinching/clamping the airtube between them. They also have a rubber coating that compresses and obviously increased friction. I don't experience the canting issue with my setup, but I'm not using the FT-typical trigger sticks with the current flavor of the week yoke variation attached to it.

Rudy, for your Thomas is that a custom thingamajigger on top of the Rekon bipod?

Is it aluminum or 3d printed or...?
yes.... aluminum on the Rekon bipod sticks it matches the profile of the Thomas stock "but" it's width allows it to fall free easily. Front to back, the depth is less than 1.1/4". I also placed some friction type rubber on the mating surfaces.
The picture of the Trigger Stick bipod has the same idea but it's aluminum yoke is set up to accommodate a 60 mm? bottle so it sits in the sticks way better than the y-yokes.
Be aware that the thread size and pitch is different on the Rekon sticks V the Trigger sticks. 3/8" V 1/4" or something like that.

Trigger sticks actually have a good bit of wiggle in them

Sure do.

The few times I've taken shots from them have left me with a "yuck, how the heck does anybody hit anything with these?!"

Maybe that plays into why people seem to constantly be tinkering with various yokes on the trigger sticks, desperately searching for SOMETHING stablish.

Edit: i use some plain shooting sticks (no yoke), not the branded "Trigger Sticks." I can see how my earlier comments may have lead to some confusion.

Glad it’s not just me
the Rekon sticks are amazing but lack the easy adjustment.
If you could combine the stability of the Rekon sticks with the rapid easy adjustability of the trigger sticks - wow, that would be amazing

It's funny looking to me how Bobby let's his triggerstix flop completely to the one side which is the most stable way of using it. He does very well using it like that.

You also do well with your simple but effective stix.

Yeah, it looks weird but I'm pretty sure he's doing that to try to minimize the inherent wobble with those trigger sticks. At least when flopped over to the side like that there's some solid support of the yoke against the upper frame of the leg on that side he's leaning towards.

Mine work pretty good, considering HOW simple they are. I'm constantly considering going for even more stable with some others that I have that are steel rods, versus hollow aluminum type I usually use. The hollow aluminum has some flex compared to the steel rods, but isn't as heavy. Pros and cons. The home made wood ones like Rex and Qwast use are probably the best compromise of stability and weight.

I placed a large hoseclamp around the base…now the yolk is rigid and no longer flops over from side to side. Just a suggestion. John

pic three is a step up for RV / Truck beds
It is painfully obvious that a BELLY is a distinct disadvantage for SEVERAL reasons.
I'm going to make a real effort to sort out the elbows on the knees posture ASAP!

From experience need to get that right elbow on your right thigh. I use a turkey seat. It's about 6-8 inches off the ground. Obviously body geometry comes into play with my suggestions.

Add a scope ring (any size) to the bottom of the RAW pic adapter and you have a nice stop
