FX Barrel versus slug weight

Just wondering at one point in grain weight does it make sense to move to the heavy one and 16 twist liner in a 22 Cal to make a difference In accuracy . I am not interested in shooting any slug over 30 grains at this point most of my slug shooting has been with 27 green HNN slugs . Please chime in and let me know your thoughts.

I’ve heard it said that one can shoot under 30 grain slugs with a standard liner, but for over 30 grains the faster twist slug liner is required. No doubt this is a very loose rule,there is some overlap, and your mileage may vary. I shot slugs 25 to 30 grains for a long while with the standard liner and had some decent results, probably averaging 1 3/8” CTC at 100 yards.

So give it a try. If you do end up moving to the slug liner expect all the tunes and velocities you used before will need to be revised.
