On my "Ruger 10/22s", I did total custom builds..
Stock receivers, but all upgraded components. "Match Grade" IMO just differentiates between parts typically used
in something also used in competition setups, vs just the average parts that are knocked off / cloned..
One of my rifles has a bunch of Volquartsen internals..
I wanted to see if I could take out a factory/OEM component, modify it, then really fine tune it..
[grind, sand, debur, sand more, polish, etc] It took a while, and some elbow grease, but, I matched that quality..
That said, not only are better materials usually used, but, the design is usually different / better,
the fit / finish as well, and the quality control is there!
Those rifles also use .920 bull/target barrels.. I opted for Ruger brand
while other brands are out there - they're both still considered 'match grade'.
I will say this - Day and night difference from the OEM regular tapered barrels, but, apples vs. oranges.
LW barrels for air rifles.. Since you brought that up, I have to say..
After talking to a few guys on here who have made that leap and gone with LW upgrades,
I'm pretty sold on most likely doing the same thing..
Ex: The P15. Sort of a gamble on whether or not you get a good bad, good, or great barrel..
I got a Great one. Still OEM.
Others that aren't so lucky usually just upgrade to the LW
Well, now I know a few guys that also had Great barrels, still upgraded to the LW,
and now they're saying that the LW barrels are Amazing - off the charts better!
And we're talking guys who are trying to pull ever single solitary oz of performance out of the gun..
So, knowing how into all of this they are - I'll believe 100% that in LW case, Match-Grade is fitting for sure!
