Barrel cleaning

Maybe a silly question, can I use my 22 caliber bore snake that I bought for my winchester 22 rifle to clean my 22 caliber air rifle?

Seems obvious it's yes, but I thought I'd check.

Wayne, I purchased a regular .22 caliber bore snake and used it on several of my air guns. But, I'm really not sure if there is a specific air gun .22 caliber bore snake or not, but suspect they are standard for .22 caliber LRs or air guns. Not sure, hopefully someone will answer and solve the puzzle.

As an aside, I bought a bore snake a couple of years ago and used them on a couple of my .22 caliber air guns. Honestly, and as I got to thinking about it, I wondered if after using the bore snake several times through the barrel, am I not just pulling the previously now dirty threaded snake back through the barrel I was trying to clean? Maybe you are only supposed to pull it through one time and then use patches?

In any case, I use patch worm now regularly with a solvent almost exclusively to clean barrels, and the bore snake is not getting used.

I too would be curious to have more feedback on the use of bore snakes and air guns.

I use a patch snake and pull a patch only out through the muzzle. My FX barrel does not seem to get much build up, most likely due to how the rifling is done, so I will only clean it if accuracy has diminished. I start with a dry pad and if a cleaner is needed I currently have Ballistol around, then followed by dry patches. If my accuracy is good then I won’t clean my barrel even with a dry patch.

I have read that it is not good to use the wire brushes on airgun barrels that are used on pb barrels.
