Barra h30 4-12×40 side focus ir

Has anyone tried this scope yet? I am looking at it cause I have a h50 3-!5×50 I really like. Very large eye box. For about the same price I can get a barra h50 2-10×40. The 2-10 has less to break(ir). I dont usually use the top end of the magnification except on the 10 level. Until recently I used low quality scopes but these seem to be a great deal better then I'm used to and still are in the 75$-100$ range.

The Barras (made in China) H30 and H20 and below are great too about equal to other popular Chinese manufactured brands of scopes costing 4x-6x their wholesale blowout selling price from eBay.

The Barra H30 series stands roughly in between a Hawke AirMax and Sidewinder30 equivalance in glass some may swear equal to the Sidewinder 30 depending on their vision or between the Athlon Argos and Midas TAC in glass without their yellow tint. Some may even say equal to the Japan SWFA SS 3-15x42 with a superior eyebox.

Beware you may not get lifetime warranty or any warranty that's why I no longer push the Barra brand no matter how great they are for their price.

I still buy them for myself though since I can fix them myself if ever needby.

I paid $80 shipped for my Chinese Barra H30 4-16x50 illuminated BDC that Optics Planet sold for $189-$199 and it has white bright glass really uncharacterstic of the typical yellow tinted glass found in Chinese made scopes like the Bushnell Forge and most mid to high dollar Chinese Athlons and older pre 2018 mid to high end Hawkes and some current Hawkes depending on specific model and power level.

When I compared it side by side with my Japanese $699 3-15x42 SWFA SS they were shockingly close optically and the Barra has a superior eyebox. It is nicer and brighter than my Japan made SWFA SS fixed 16x in glass and eyebox.

It's got noticeably nicer glass than MOST Discovery scopes and TAC Vector scopes I compared it too as well of different price and tier levels. Bright and white clear all the way to max power. It optically smokes all UTGs as well.

The A6 2.5-15x50 and 4.5-27x50 have hands down superior eyeboxes and very big sight picture compared to the Barra of any tier level even compared to the Japan Barras BTW. Many have already sold their Japan Barras after buying their A6s specifically the 4.5-27x50.

If you are a Japanese SWFA SS 3-15x42 lover and fanboy (or fangirl) you probably like the A6s a lot better.

I have the exact model you are talking about. I bought it a couple of months ago after being extremely impressed with my Barra H50. The good - extremely clear glass, nice reticle, side focus and magnification turn smoothly. I was really impressed with the glass and coatings used on the lens. It really surprised me being a 40mm objective with the light gathering ability at night. It wasn’t too far off from my Trijicon with a 50mm objective and that scope really does well in low light. It’s not as clear as the Trijicon, I didn’t want my last statement to be taken as the glass is almost as good because it’s not. The bad - the illuminated reticle is way too bright even on the lowest setting. You will definitely get some red bleed over color in the scope when used at night. It’s definitely daylight bright, some may like that. Also my diopter has a little play in it. This bothers me although it hasn’t effected the scopes performance so far. I do have it turned out quite a bit to help my older eyes get a good picture, if you left it turned it you would never notice it. I’m not sure if all of them have this issue or just mine. If I needed to buy another scope there is no way I would buy the H30 over the H50. If you don’t mind the lower magnification, the H50 is the best deal on a scope anywhere.

The H50s are Japan made and the H30s and cheaper models are Chinese and would gamble on the Japan made Barras over the Chinese IMHO.

Buy the A6 if you gambling on going Chinese anyway since its got a Lifetime Warranty and better optics with a much more useable illuminated reticle. EBay $229 free shipping get it real quick or save $30 and wait 2 to 3 weeks from Extreemtactical $199. Sign up first you may get 5% off $199 and free shipping if you don't mind waiting.
