Barra Barra 1100z Gen 2 in .22

I just got my Barra 1100z Gen 2 in .22 cal a few days ago and wanted to share my initial impressions and see if anyone else has any insight or comments on it. I really scoured the internet and YouTube for information on the Gen 2 and I was only able to find a couple of forum threads on it and only a few videos and reviews - most of which were detailing the .25 cal. With all the praise the 1100z Gen 1 got I figured there would be more hype with the Gen 2 getting a regulator and improved side-lever.

I cleaned the barrel (AEAC's tutorial with the PatchWorm kit is how I clean all my barrels) and now have a few hundred shots through it.

I'd say my biggest observation is that I can't seem to reduce power enough to get the 18.13 grain JSBs flying under 900fps. My hammer spring was 7 turns from flush from the factory and in my opinion way over tuned. Even at only 2 turns from flush I'm still sending the 18.13s at over 900 FPS for the first 12 shots then 890-900 for the next 28 shots before falling off the regulator. It is grouping pretty well at 40 yards with the occasional flyer and honestly I've been firing quickly being more focused on tuning it down than really trying to get the best groups. None of the heavier pellets I've tried have grouped any better despite getting them in the mid 800s or lower. So far I've also briefly tried JSB 15.89, the JTS 18.1, 22.07, and 25.39 as well as H&N 18.13 and 21.14. I've not tried tuning for any but the JSB 18.13 so maybe some of the others might group better with additional tuning later on.

This is the first PCP I've had that I've even really wanted to tune. I have an Airacuda Max, Urban, P-rod, and Discovery - all shot very well from the factory at speeds and shot curves that I liked. I prefer maximizing accuracy and shot count and don't care to chase high FPE or FPS.

In any case I'm really liking the gun so far and am very impressed with the quality and finish for a $275 gun. I'm hoping to get some more range time this weekend and I'll share any interesting results I find.

How's everyone else's 1100z Gen 2 been shooting?

Cross posted to GTA as well.

My dad just got the gen 2 a few days ago as his first PCP. Hammer spring from the factory was set way to high. I haven't had a chance to dig in to adjust the reg from the factory setting (1600psi), but 2.5 turns from flush on the hammer spring was sending AEA 21.9gr @ 860fps thru a ragged hole at 44yds.
Didn't keep track of the total shot count, but the speed didn't fall off till about 1200psi or so. I guess the "improved transfer port" design really helps... unless the gauge is way off.

Well I've put enough pellets through this gun (close to 1,000) to come to the conclusion that I'm going to try to return it - we'll see how that goes.

Not new to air gunning or PCPs (this is my 6th PCP) and I can't get this thing to group consistently at all. I've run probably over 15 different pellets through it at all hammer spring adjustments with 2 different known good UTG/Leapers scopes with and without a Buck Rail suppressor and I can't find anything that runs consistently. It's been the least fun shooter that I own. The only consistent thing about the gun is that it ALWAYS has 1-2 flyers per five shot group with the pellets I found shoot the best - JSB 18.13 and 15.89. I also notice POI shifts randomly with no adjustments - seems like every other group lands in a pretty different place relative to aim.

I can't figure out why it won't shoot well. The regulator seems relatively consistent with an overall average spread of around 30 FPS and SD of 7 or so over a full string of 30-40 shots depending on hammer spring setting.

I'm not so much an expert to know what a bad crown looks like so maybe that's the issue or that it's clipping the integrated baffles.
I've noticed my hammer spring turns itself out while shooting - like a quarter turn per mag. Maybe it's a bad spring or internal tune?
