Baracuda Hunter .25

With all the enjoyment and success I have had with the 177 Baracuda Hunters out of my EDgun Lelya 2.0 I ordered some in .25 to test in my .25 Lelya 2.0. I spent the better part of 4 hours figuring out what works and what did not. From my gun, speeds above 875 resulted in some destabilization and wobble. At 870 things are stable. I settled on a tune for 860, 45 FtLb. BC is coming in at .032. Gun is shooting really well. 

I will start some terminal ballistics verification tomorrow

I placed a sandwich bag full of water in a cardboard box that was small enough to hold the bag in one place. I knew it would pass through so I hung a folded towel 5 yards beyond the box. I shot the box from 40 yards. This soft target test results in expansion to 7.22 mm.

I agree. I am somewhat surprised we don’t see more folks posting about these. I have tested in .177 and .25. They are very good in both. They are stellar in .177. They seem to be a very, very good hunting pellet.

I forgot I had a couple tins and did a quick test today in my brocock. I turned the power down to about 915 fps and they shot really well. I poked around the desert for a few minutes and whacked a ground squirrel broadside. Might be my new favorite hunting pellet!

What makes this pellet different than the H&N Crow Magnum? Just curious as they do look very similar.

The Baracuda Hunter looks like a domed hollow point. The Crow Magnum looks like a wadcutter with a hollow point.

Ive got quite the soft spot for the crow magnum too. Many, and I mean many, birds and squirrels fell to those pellets ( when they were beeman) when I was a kid. What a POP those things would make out of my .25 kodiak! They was also a blast to shoot walnuts out of the trees. Miss those days!

Cool, I have some of these on the way, both Hunter and Hunter Extreme.

Any opinions on how good one might compared to the other? JWilson, are you going to try both and compare?

I've got them coming in both .177 and .25.

I have become interested in the Baracuda hunter for a hunting pellet. I have found it to be very good in .177 and .25 so far. Ironically, the Baracuda hunter extreme may actually outperform the hunters in .22.
