Bantam Moderator

When I ordered my Bantam from AoA, I purchased the Reflex moderator too.

I'm definitely NOT happy. The noise level is still insanely loud.

Thinking of getting a DonnyFL in replacement.



Anyone out there have experience with this two mods - or have a Bantam in .25 and can recommend a mod?

I have a Tanto on my .22 Compatto, it is very, very backyard friendly, the impact of the pellet is louder.

Going to order the 1.6 x 8" Shogun. But I need to get this damn Reflex off. Anybody know if AoA uses hot glue to secure moderators? I've tried twisting it off and its not budging.

I have a Donny Sumo on my .22 Bantam, works great. If there is some type of glue on the threads, you might need to use a heat gun to loosen it.

My Compatto Target HR from AoA also had a Reflex. Useless. I replaced it with a Sumo.

If your Bantam barrel shroud extends a couple of inches inside of that POS reflex moderator you will have a devil of a time trying to remove it. There is no legal reason for Daystate, Brocock, or AofA to continue to send rifles to the U.S. with the moderators glued on. If it is recessed it is vitually impossible to get your heat source reaching where it needs to go to soften the adhesive. I purchased a Huntsman XL which had its reflex moderator glued on. What typically happens is that the end cap UNF adapter will unscrew from the shroud instead of the reflex unscrewing from the UNF adapter. The adapter stays glued inside of the reflex which means you must buy another shroud adapter/end cap. Then you're unable to sell or use the reflex elsewhere because it has the shroud adapter still glued inside. Good luck getting it apart correctly. I totally agree that the reflex is the least effective moderator there is.

Had to lock it down with some leather and some pipe wrenches - was able to pop it loose.

Of course the POS Reflex scratched up my brand new barrel shroud. Lovely...

My DonnyFL Shogun arrived. HOLY HELL THIS THING IS AMAZING!!!

My Bantam went from a window shaking cannon to a pop gun.

I cannot believe it's the same rifle I was shooting just yesterday.

Mines a Bantam in 177 and the reflex is not terrible, but I want quieter. May try the Tatsu or a Tanto.

Any 177 Brocock guys out there?

I had AOA put a Huggett on mine when I bought it and it's very effective, actually too quiet for my taste. AOA had a hard time getting the Reflex off.

How did you get the Reflex off? I was thinking of cutting it with a tube cutter to expose the fitting

I ended up using a piece of thick rubber on the moderator AND the barrel shroud. Combine that with all the forearm torque I could muster. After a few grunts, it came loose.

I ordered the Tatsu for my Bantam. I like the squatty pug look compared to long and sleek. It shipped the same day with no BS.

I have a bantam sniper hr in a .25 and have tried different moderators, Donny's sumo & shogun both work well in taming the bark. But them Utah Airguns had a sale on the Hugget's so I bought both the snipe & magna. I use the magna because to my ears it sounds the quietest. My bantam is tuned to shoot jsb kings 25.39 @ 900 fps. On a side note, my taipan veteran std. in a .25 sounds quieter with the Donny shogun shooting jsb kings 25.39 @ 920 fps.

I couldn’t get my Reflex off at home. I’ll take it to the Laboratory tomorrow where l have a vise and proper tools. I’m ticked at those douche bags for but a junk moderator on my gun with lock tite

Any mass producing air gun manufacturer has it in their best interest to 'permanently attach' these sound reduction devices onto our air guns...what you do it once its in your possession is entirely outside the realm of manufacturer liability...
