Tuning Bam B40 177 - Project

Picked up a .177 BAM B40 in good condition. Muzzle velocity is consistent at 10.5 ftlbs across a variety of pellets, but accuracy is not so consistent. I’ve seen some promise with Barracuda 8s.

Pushing a pellet through the barrel, there’s no choke. I’m considering disassembling the barrel and shroud from the action to check the crown, and possibly choke the barrel. If anyone can link solid videos or guides for this, I’d appreciate it.

If that doesn’t work, I have an old, unusable pre-safety catch HW35 I bought cheap years ago thinking I could repurpose that barrel.

Open to all suggestions, especially from those who’ve tuned or modded these rifles.

Seems that yours is shooting a bit weak. I had one back in the day that came in at 15fpe and after adding a Macarri kit to it, dropped down to 12fpe. Did improve accuracy, and not near as hold sensitive.

How is the shot cycle on it? As heavy as those are, at 10.5fpe, should be really, really gentle of a shot cycle.

I guess depends on how 'all in' you want to go, but if it were me, I'd pop in a tune kit (very easy to do) and then recrown and see where that got me. While the tune kit may not be necessary depending on how your shot cycle is, it's still quite low for that gun and would drive me bug nuts.
