I developed this as I was struggling with getting the FX Impact to ride the bags nicely. It works very well. I wonder if there would be any interest in this type of thing...
So I am not an Impact owner, and I don't mean to offer insult, however that big machined billet looks awfully heavy. I don't know what sorts of production capabilities you have on hand, however skeletonized and machined from delrin or something else light weight might be preferable. Personally I'd 3D print it from 20% carbon fiber reinforced nylon or polycarbonate to keep it light while offering the footprint you want/need.
I hope that is at least vaguely useful feedback, coming from a guy who knows basically nothing about the project.![]()
As someone who also likes to do these types of things I think you did pretty damn good! Looks awesome!
Being made from aluminum the tooling paths looks really good and gives it a eye appealing appearance.
Now if you slot it its gonna look ever better!
I'm glad you made it know the delrin is not lightweight. Aluminum is probably better. I think that black delrin has more weight to it than aluminum. 100% on that
Now if you made from a 3d printer it would only look about 1/4 as good. I've never seen a 3d print that beats the looks of a quality peice of machines material .
Plus I know I would be much more satisfied making something with my hands then doing a bunch of math on a computer and just wait for said product to be done.
Like I say good job!
just an example of how much better machining looks vs the same 3d print![]()

I'm not so sure I wouldn't want the heavier piece for bench shooting. I'd still have the original for hunting.
In fact I know I would prefer the heavier one. How much are you thinking the piece as is will be selling for??
That looks great - personally I tend to think the heavier version probably would work well for bench-rest - more mass helps the gun calm down.
