Bad luck with Hawke scope mounts

New to the forums.

My new Streamline 22 arrived today! I've had a new Hawke Sidewinder 30 6.5-20x waiting for it. I decided to go with medium Hawke mounts.

Turns out they were severely out of alignment, and don't give enough clearance for the factory Streamline magazine. So I'll need to order high mounts.. Here are some pics to show the problems.

I'll stop by the LGS tomorrow and hopefully they'll have some decent mounts so I can get the rifle sighted in.

Check out the screw holes in the bases of the mounts....drilled crooked.

Rings don't clear the factory magazine.

I should have just ordered FX No Limits mounts from the start.

Let's hope there aren't any problems with the scope.

Good way to mash an expensive scope tube. BKL mounts are really good also. I think they have the best to centering rings.

wow and yes sadly the streamline cant really get away with medium mounts.

Yeah, every video I watched on this rifle there was mention that Medium and Low rings would work with the smaller magazine. Maybe there is a height difference from one manufacturer to another?

Oh well.

well i think i actually have mediums but it really limits my tiny 3-9 airmax. not ideal at all

To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. I'm shopping for some High rings right now.

What I might do is just take the whole scope with mounts off my Benjamin Maximus and put it on the FX just so I can start shooting it. The scope I have on there is decent....a Vortex Crossfire II AO 6-18x.

I didn't want to take the Benjamin out of service, but it would only be temporary if I do.

I just ordered some BKL mounts after watching their video. It seems like they have a nice centering design.

After examining my Hawke mounts more closely, it looks like I got Low mounts in medium packaging. I'll take some measurements and compare.

Sounds like a bad batch. Not sticking up for Hawke, but I've used the Hawke rings in both 1 inch and 30mm on four separate occasions and they were always spot on... Disappointing news.

Yeah.....I get unlucky every now and then. I still have high hopes for the Hawke scope though, super anxious to use it. Until the BKL mounts come in, I'll be using the setup I just took off my Benjamin.

I'm about to clean the barrel and then fire the first bunch of shots in the basement....zero it out. I've got three tins of JSB pellets in different weights.

My BKL mounts came today. I'm hoping for time tomorrow after work to get the new scope mounted.

To say a picture is worth a thousand words about sums up those bolt holes. Very poor quality control on Hawke's part. I wonder if they are outsourced? The FX no limits are my go to rings from now on, love the adjustment they give you.

I was going to buy those rings in the first place, but I wanted medium height. The BKL rings I got are taller than the medium rings I already have. So if I end up wanting the adjustability of the FX no limits rings, I'll definitely buy those next.

I finally got some time to mount the new scope. Here it is with the BKL mounts compared to the old set-up. I went with the offset forward mount so the clamp would be further forward on the scope.

You can see that the new mounts are a little higher, which makes the scope clear the magazine completely, and afford me a scope position for proper eye relief where it's comfortable. With the previous mounts, I was forced to mount the scope where you see it.

Now I just need to zero the new scope and get to some shooting! Only problem now is I need a deeper rifle case to accommodate the wider scope properly.
