bad gas>:stinks>

having bad gas could be fatal,, lots of talk on the issue of using diferent gas besides compressed air being used i probably would use nitrogen myself hearing some long timers say its safe use common sense i guess thats not always the case check out raws face book page dated march 8th martin got an article there a good one he also says please do not use any gas besides clean compressed dive quality air only in his products hmmm in the article one man did a bad thing one man only everyone be careful i tried bringing article here no dice

"intenseaty22"So who or what are you calling pedantic? & why?
When my entire statement is read in context it is plain to see that I was referring to Any manufacturer (and specifically RAW) who claims ONLY CDA in their guns. If I had been referring to anyone else I would have opened with an @(insert name here).

for example: @intenseaty22 as you stated any use of O2 is a potential Darwin Award Winner! O2 gas is dangerous and liquid O2 is EXTREMELY Dangerous!

Having bad gas? Don't eat beans!

No, seriously... don't mess around with mixtures or pure oxygen. It's highly explosive and PCP's aren't built for the use of oxygen under extreme pressure, but just plain breathable air. Don't go experimenting with that stuff, unless you have a serious death wish, I fully agree with Thurmond on that!

These kind of posts seem to crop up every month or so, nothing wrong with that as it may save someone
Pure Oxygen should never be used in PCP guns, as said while oxygen is not flammable in itself it is an oxidizer, and causes other flammable material to become extremely more flammable and unstable. Even pure eating sugar can react explosively with the application of pure oxygen.

The primary reason it is advised to avoid nitrogen isn't its chemical or physical properties but due to the fact that it is usually stored at extremely high pressure 6000 psi, ..... if the tanks are not properly regulated and if the owner doesn't use proper care there is a definite danger of bursting a guns tank.
The use of nitrogen tanks with standard valves is also a concern due to the fact that they may not be able to be opened slowly and therefore not over heat the guns tank.
Therefore while nitrogen can be used in Airguns it should only be done after the proper equipment and precautions are used.

I use nitrogen in all my airguns and have had no determental effect whatsoever. I share the tank with a friend. He bought the nitrogen fill setup from Joe Brancato. It fills our 90 cu tanks slowly and is controllable. There is no water introduced into our guns with nitrogen. That is the reason scope manufacturers use it to purge their scopes.

Like anything you do with high pressure gases, you must take the proper steps to be safe. The nitrogen is delivered with 6000 PSI. It needs to be stored in a safe place in case something does happen.
