Thanks for the memories... I was a subscriber to G&A way back then. Also the Beeman four color catalogs were my bibles. I still have a few of them too.
Yes thanks for the memories and for the quality photos. And I remember Capstick’s famous book “Death in the Long Grass” he wrote in such a vivid way in a time long past. For anyone who has not read death in the long grass you are truly missing out on a great piece of hunting literature!
I remember that article when it was published. I met Capstick at the NRA convention in Philadelphia ( not sure of the year… early 80’s I think ) and got my copy of the book signed. I thought he was a colorful writer.
Thanks for the memories , I was lucky to have bought and owned a 124 for 43 years,,, Sold it a while back but because I did not want to see it wind up in the garage sale with the rest of my stuff.
Thank you for posting this article. I own every Capstick book, but the magazine articles were before my time so I haven’t had the chance to read many of them. No one lays out a hunting story quite like Peter Capstick!
Brings back good memories from a few years ago. Articles like this one led me to buying a FWB 124 .177 cal in the early 1980s to use on "church pigeons"
A blast from the past for sure. That’s the same Schrade knife 7-OT I have carried daily for over 30 years. I think it was made late 70s or early 80s. I got mine in 82 for my HS graduation preasent.
