Aztec Emerald 5.5-25 Review

My Aztec Emerald showed up and I got it unpacked and put on the HMx, the 1st thing I noticed was how nice the glass is, nice and clear and the eye relief is spot on for me, the reticle crosshairs are perfect for my eyes with the dot and I can see where once I get it zero’d the hold over will be real nice now the turrets were super tight real hard to turn but once I worked both the horizontal and vertical knobs they started to loosen up and pulling them out to unlock was hard at 1st both were like that but again once you pull and push them they start to work easier and then there is the parallax knob, I thought I was going to need a pliers to get it moving but again after turning it a few times back and forth it started to loosen up also, I’m guessing all the turret issues are due to the grease and will eventually loosen up some more plus it was cold from being shipped so I’ll let it warm up some more, This is where I wish Martin had a right hand mag for the .357 I could then use the wheel that came with the scope making the focus a lot easier.
I have not shot with it on yet but that’s coming in a bit I want to let it get to room temp and move the turrets some more then I’ll see how it does but as of right now I really like the glass and the center dot, looking out to my 50yards target it’s as clear as a bell as they say....

After checking my ring caps today and going over the screws with the torque wrench set at 17 inch pounds and all I can say is I really like it,I’m close to zero’d in and hitting under 2” at 50yards more like a 1.5” hole, yesterday I had all 42 shots in the 2” and today got them a little tighter, I really like the reticle with the dot and the lines are nice, I have it set at 9x so it’s 2 to 1 moa and now I’m about to go out to 75 yards and re zero it in and reset the turret caps, I tried to get a pic just so you can see how clear it is,I’m a bit shaky from my meds and know I can do better off a solid table but shooting from my home off a portable bench/table this is what I shot yesterday. It was only the 1st 7 shots with the new scope.

"isaacrm1"I just received mine 2 days ago.
I zero it, but the thing is that when I try to zero the turret caps it's impossible to align them with the white dot on the scope...
is it normal? Do you guys have the same problem?
1st off I really like this scope.......NOW....
I did with the left and right turret ,it’s one dot off I think it’s just the way the cogs are my up down turret lined up..it’s not big deal for me being its a machined part and sometimes it’s hard to get things exactly right and on 9x at 50 yards it didn’t make any difference with my .357 HMx but I need for it to warm up a bit and I’m re zeroing it in at 75 yards and see if it lines up better when I re set the turrets.

I just ordered another Aztec Emerald for another Airgun being I liked this one so much.

I think the misalignment problem is quite common. It's because the scopes have more clicks than teeth on the splines. My mill dot scopes are .1 Mil per click.60 clicks per turn. I don't know how many teeth are on the spline but it ain't going to be that many. If you've got a 1/4 MOA or !/8 MOA the difference will be even more, perhaps 3-4 clicks per spline. I don't know how accurate this is but is only an assumption on my part. I have the same problem when locking them down.

I’m just making a comment on all scopes. I’d bet that most users don’t even know when something is wrong with their scope. The reason being at my gun club to raise money for charity we had a site check were we aligned and sighted in scopes for other members. The sights went the whole gamut in price and we found that over half of them had some defect Tharp their owners were not aware of. The most common problem believe it or not was not being mounted properly (scope is crooked on gun) gun can only be accurate at one distance. The more you play around with the elevation and windage the more problems you can cause.

"JoeWayneRhea"+1 with Eagle Beak ! Don't let a tiny issue ruin a great scope . My Main scope my Weaver 24T has same issue ....Wouldn't trade it off for NOTHING !!
Thanks Joe. I wouldn't even call it an issue. I just counted the teeth on one of my spare turret caps and it only had about 28 spline keyways. So that's less than 1/2 the 60 clicks for a full turn on the knob.so +or- 1 click is the closest I will get. That's 5mm @ 50 Metres on this FFP mill dot scope.
