Awe...Rats!

Last night at 1AM my dog kindly let me, and the rest of the neighborhood, know that one of my rat traps caught something. I went out this morning to dispose of the evidence and was rewarded with the largest rat I've personally ever seen that was still, after 4 hours in the trap, still very much alive and kicking. I shot it 4 more times with my .177 before it finally quit thrashing. Tough buggers.

Good times! We had a dog who was death to any varmints who came around, she woke us up in the middle of the night often-the time she got skunked was the worst! I had a woodrat run out of a pottery kiln I was unloading and run across the roof on to a tree branch. I had my old Crosman pumped up and ready-when he paused on the branch I shot him, he dropped and the dog crunched and shook him! Double dead! Didn't need any coffee that morning, lol! Our Woodrats get pretty big and they are colored like a rabbit with white belly fur and red trim on their backs. They make huge nests in the trees from piled up sticks. I only kill em when they get into buildings or the house.
