Tuning Avenger slow leak update

I contacted Air Venturi about my slow leak to see if I could get one of the new poppets from them. Here is their reply.

Hi John

There has been an upgrade however it is not for distribution or sale at this time.
The new upgrades are on the 2nd gen rifles and purchasing a new rifle would be the only option at this time.
We do plan on eventually having them available but we do not know the time as of now.
We do however a repair service where we can fix your issue.
Would you like a repair ticket ?

Technical Support Specialist

I told them no as I did not want to send my nicely tuned and highly moded Avenger to them. Since I have air tanks and a compressor, the leak is a nuisance not a disability. I figured I would share the info.

Regards,

John

The following thread suggests PA has a replacement SKU’d up under a different name.

At the time, Apr 2021, Tyler noted the old inventory had not rolled over yet to the new Delrin type. Looks like 3 people ordered a replacement…two got the old and one got the new. Almost a year has elapsed now so they should be on the Delrin but you’ll need to do a little more legwork to verify or just roll the dice for $10 + shipping.

instead of replacing the poppet, try Burnishing it, all you need is a soft cloth a Drill and some silicone oil, apply a small amount of silicone oil to the cloth and place the poppet shaft in the drill, spin the poppet in the drill and apply the cloth with a firm amount of pressure, wear gloves as the thing will get hot, once it gets hot it should be done, inspect the Poppet for any imperfections, if good, reinstall and it should seal, if not, try again.

When my liberty's poppet started to leak it was because the metal can that the sealing material had deformed enough to cause the metal can to bottom on the brass valve face so it couldn't seal 💯 percent. I just ground the metal can back about.020 so it would seal again. I eventually bought a steel valve with a peek poppet from Duy at DC tunes. No more leaks.
