My brother has an Air Venturi Avenger that recently developed a strange problem. AS the air pressure in the tank gets anything below 2500, the reg (set at 1900PSI) will immediately start to creep downward with the bottle pressure. It actually goes as low as 1100 PSI, with the tank pressure showing much higher, causing obvious problems. He should still have a 600# cushion left the way I see it. I'm thinking a possible bad or very inaccurate tank gauge, reading higher than it actually is ?? Your thoughts ? I'm not too familiar with this model. I've only handled his a few times. I don't know what else would make the reg lose it's set point. Your thoughts ??

The most likely cause is one of the gauges is lying.
Drain it completely and then bring it up to 500psi with a hand pump according to the pump's gauge. See if both of the gun's gauges read 500psi.
Then repeat at 1000psi.

Kind of agree with the inaccurate gauge. Do you have a chronograph? That will tell you in an instant. If the reg is truly dropping from 1900 to 1100 you will see a drastic reduction in velocity.

Well.....we tried the slow-fill thing. Slowly going up in 500# increments. EVERYTHING matches, all the way up. Filling bottle/gun's air tank/regulator, everything works as it should. Charged to full up. Same issue exists with regulator drop while in use.....by a lot !! Any other ideas ?? I had been convinced that this HAD to be a gauge issue. Now I'm puzzled......
