Air Venturi Avenger Question

Is anyone shooting slugs in their Air Venturi Avenger? I have a 22 cal Avenger and was advised by the folks at New England Airguns that the barrel is not designed for slugs. So I have been shooting pellets. Just wanted to know if anyone has experience with slugs for this gun and if so, what they recommend.

I've gotten good results with light pellets. 18gr or so. Haven't had the need for a heavy power avenger in 22 so stayed pellet weight.

I found good results (whatever that means) with NSA slugs around 28 grain and .218 diameter. My Avenger didn't like ZAN slugs at all. Sooner or later someone will put some effort into building thick barrels with optimal rifling twist rates for slugs-- the heavier the slug, the more twist is needed.

I only had a few different slugs on hand at the time, but mine would not group H&N in either .217 or .218, nor the FX Hybrids. Not even enough to be useful at short range (30y).

I remember hajimoto having a video awhile back on the umarex origin in .22 and him having some good results with a few slugs. Seems that gun would probably have the same barrel ?? Search hajimoto on YouTube and find his origin review vid.

I've tried 9 different slugs (but not NSA) with no success. My early model .22 Avenger loves JSB 18.13s more than any other pellet. Getting about 0.8 inch 5-shot groups at 50 yards (at 930 muzzle FPS, 35 FPE). I'll try the NSAs.
