Avenger Arrived

I received my Avenger this week and just an early assessment but it seems to live up to the hype. It would be nice to know what they adjust it to before it leaves the factory because it has pretty high velocities for all pellets. At this point all I'm doing with it is trying to establish a baseline. How is it adjusted as it leaves the factory so I can put it back there if need be.

Shooting the below pellets I'm getting these velocities with a moderator attached using an adapter I got from donnyfl. I don't even remember where I got this moderator but I'm attaching a picture. The base was a lot longer but I milled it off to fit the airgun I had at the time.

JSB 14.3 1,000fps

JSB 15.89 965fps

JSB 18.13 914fps

JSB 25.39 RD 793fps

EUNJIN 28.5 pellets 747fps

H&N 21.14 Baracuda Match 861fps

JSB Knockout slugs 25.39 762fps

Nielsen .217 19gr. 874fps

The knockout slugs fit tight in the chamber and look like they might be accurate in the avenger. The H&N Baracuda Match pellets also fit tight in the Avenger.

I even tried some H&N Rabbit Magnum Power copper pellets. Well, I didn't really try them. I tried to chamber them in the Avenger and they wouldn't go in. I had to punch it back out using a cleaning rod.

I used the FX radar chronograph and it has a little trouble picking up all the pellets in my crowded basement. In fact it did not read any of the Nielsen slugs. I had to get out the Caldwell to get the velocities for them.

The trigger is not the best in the world and I haven't touched it yet. That's farther down the line. All I want to start with is the baseline adjustments.

One nice thing about filling it using my YH compressor is that it doesn't take much time at all to fill. I haven't gone over 4k yet and probably won't. I'm not going to try to make it shoot like an impact. I think I will tune it strictly for accuracy using the JSB 18.13 pellets out to 50 yards or so. I just shot a few rounds at 15 yards and it seems to shoot as well as my Daystate Red Wolf HP when I first received it. But that is another story of a bushel of lemons.

I'm still waiting on my scope to arrive before I get real serious about testing accuracy but I'm inclined to believe the stories coming out of the early testers. It looks really good. Especially as a "lug around the woods" airgun. Six lbs versus the sherman tank over eight lbs. Gauntlet.

Sweet! So glad that there are less expensive pcp options coming out that are performing well. I really like the looks of that moderator. I can’t tell for sure but it looks VERY similar to one that I bought off of eBay for one of my Crosman guns with the thinner barrel. It is a slip on moderator with a set screw (or two?) to hold it in place.

anyway, keep us posted on how the rifle holds up for ya.

30Harry, not to hijack your thread, I just would like to add to it (if that's OK).

I just got my Avenger in the mail today and was out back shooting it with Crosman Premier HPs (14.3gr). I am base-lining the rifle as well, and it looks like the factory setting for the regulator was around 2700 PSI. I filled to 300 BAR and put 80 shots through it before it started to fall off the regulator (and I got too warm in the TX heat). 😅

I ended up with 80 shots, 997 FPS average, 33.0 FPS spread, and a STD Deviation of 6.7 (FX chrony as well - must have missed you at the store).

I can't wait to try out other pellets with it, but I can say that the accuracy and consistency seem to be on-par with what everyone else is reporting, even with a tin of store bought pellets shot out of the rifle the way it was set from the factory. I will probably de-tune mine and check out something like the "economy tune" that Steve from AEAC vlogged about. This should be a lot of fun!

The production consistency seems to be pretty good if everyone is getting similar results. Like you, I also like the light weight, and plan on using this as my go-to pesting rifle for times when I don't need my low power CO2 carbine.

If durability proves to be good, I expect that these will be sold out for quite some time.

My reg is right at 3,000 but that number is only as good as the gauge. It may actually be higher or lower. I wonder why they have it set at the maximum when they send it out. I think my final setting will be somewhere 1,500-2,000 shooting the 18.13s at 850-890 but it will be whatever makes the best accuracy.

Actually I might have bought it off eBay a long time ago. It looked like it was a slip fit but it also had threads. I just milled off the slip fit part and use the threads.

I ordered this Liberty .22 baffle for my new .22 Avenger from Geoffk on Ebay. It will fit the Avenger. Looks like it's not available in .25, only .177 and .22.

there is also this set:

cannot speak to how well these work (i went with a unf adapter on my freedom)

Thanks for the second link. I ordered a set from them. We'll see how well they work on the avenger.

Got mine today. 25cal. Just shot some 5 shot groups @ 50 yards. Pretty impressive so far.

Hi, Tim- also have the .25 & curious as to your current settings. I'm @ 2000 reg & 2 3/4 hs. & getting 880 avg. with 25.39 but going to try out 33 gr. + some various slugs today. Should have chrony & target pics up by tomorrow. Just want to compare notes.

What's your ES on that tune? I guess someone will come up with a pro tune for the .25. Just for the hell of it, I pumped it up to 300 bar with the 1st gen Hill Pump. I haven't used it since my 1st gen Marauder, but it was a hell of alot easier than the Benjamin. I only requires about 20 full strokes to get it back from 3000psi. The best budget rifle I've ever purchased, not to mention I almost purchased a Gamo 10x repeater break barrel.

Did a little tweaking on the rifle tonight and shot another 150 through it.

I have the reg set @ 2300 psi and the hammer turned out 2 and 1/2 turns.

The multi target is at 50 yards and I wasn’t really concentrating. The single photo is 5 shots at 100 yards. I can consistently hit my 4” gong at 130 yards also.

Th

What is the ring spacing on the 100yd target? I'm working mine now too. Trying to work toward the same velocities and same pellet as you.
