Air Venturi Avenge-X Tactical Carbine Leak - I’ve exhausted all attempts!!

I’m relatively new to pcp. I have the Avenge-X Tac Carbine. Please forgive me if I don’t know the correct terms for parts described.

Air leaking from breach area when cocking gun - as well as compressor not being able to fill past 1,000psi.

• Dead head test on compressor (RovAir) - works fine

• Replaced o-rings on bottle foster fitting

• Inspected poppet/spring/etc - everything looks ok to me

• Replaced the 3 o-rings on the outside of the barrel. I’ve seen some guns with a
breach seal on the inside rear of the barrel, I did not see any type of groove on this barrel where an o-ring would be

• Replaced o-rings on silver threaded piece (do not know the name) which is on the first block of the “action?” (I’ve included a pic from a video of that part.

I use this rifle to hunt iguana multiple times a week for the city. I need to get it back in action asap. It’s totally unusable like it is. Thank you SO much in advance!!!

Attached are the Avenge-X diagrams and an O-ring listing. Unfortunately the only place I found with a complete O-ring kit was PyramidAir. Captain O-ring does not carry the Avenge-X O-ring kits. The OEM O-rings are not the greatest and those on the production guns seem to harden quickly. You probably will want to put together an O-ring kit for your gun as they are know to eat up the regulator pieces. Sorry this wasn't much help but it should get you pointed in a direction.

That leaves the check valve in the foster and the valve itself. A little water on the end of the foster will tell you and a rubber glove finger tightly sealed on the end of the barrel with a rubber band will inflate if your valve is leaking. The foster or fill point check valve is usually the culprit for me on any of my guns.

Suspect poppet isn't sealing properly. My JTS Airacuda MAX broke a poppet and chipped its replacement, both instances air leaked out breech and muzzle. Removed chip with sandpaper and drill and dressed per Hajimoto's Umarex Gauntlet Upgrade video, so far, so good. WM
Thank you for the reply, I will take a close look at it for any imperfections

Thanks for responding, what's the fix if this is in fact the issue? I'm not sure if this matters or not, but I have the bottle version of this rifle. (Forgot to mention it on the original post)

Any pcp has a fill point check valve. If it's a foster fitting there's a pin and an oring. You can just replace it with an Amazon unit, or clean out the bore and put a new oring on. A discovery I just bought had the seal extrudong past the sealing faces and leaking air super fast. Just clean it out and put a new one on with an oring. The principle is the same for a probe gun, it's just more disassembly. If the valve pin poppet is leaking, you need a new poppet or poppet end.

It's not terrible (to me). Once you understand your gun inside and out it becomes rewarding to problem solve it.

I get the principle — but this rifle has been nothing but headaches.

My first one (ordered 4/4/25) went back for a barrel that wasn’t even aligned with the action, an off-center pic rail, and pellet probe o-rings getting shredded.

This replacement (5/23/25) is now completely down after just 2½ months.

I know PCPs need maintenance, but not before I’ve even run enough pellets through it to call it broken in. At this point it’s less a rifle and more a hands-on training aid for Air Venturi’s warranty department.

If Pyramyd sold FX, the only thing this Avenge-X would be hitting is someone else’s workbench.

Two rifles, five months, zero reliability.
I didn’t buy a PCP — I bought a part-time job where I pay them, not the other way around.

You're welcome. Here's Airacuda MAX poppet, at break air blasted out muzzle and breech. Replacement chipped after a few magazines, slow leak from same. Appeared OK but felt chip running fingernail along edge. Poppet separates reservoir air from breech so unable to fill reservoir with air escaping breech, suggests problem area. WM

I see in that image a clear problem lol. But this one, like your replacement - when looking at it, looks fine to me. One possible abrasion…maybe. I have the bag of replacement parts that come with the rifle, including a poppet head. But, I’m no PCP technician, I’m not going to pretend I know how to replace that damn thing - it’s obviously a sensitive part if non-visible damage can cause the gun to dump air. Plus I noticed the one that came in the rifle has “3” stamped on the head, the one in the parts bag has “2“ Not sure if that means anything or not.

If the issue was the foster fitting check valve, wouldn't the air leak be coming from the front of the bottle? If so, than it must be okay because all air is coming out of the breech. Being that's the case, you feel the poppet head is not sealing correctly?

Few years back, Hajimoto did an upgrade video for the original Umarex Gauntlet that included replacing poppet. I referred to this when replacing Airacuda one, he uses drill to hold poppet against brass fitting and gives light (10-second) burnish to seat. Video can be found on YouTube, seating of poppet is a ways in. I'm no technician either but was able to follow his instructions. Best of Luck, WM

Just an overlooked place. I don't know that gun or brand, just pointing people to places often overlooked.

My real answer, stop trying to get the internet to guess the issue, tear it down and clean all oring surfaces and replace all orings. Seems scary, it isn't. If you have 1 leak you'll soon have more. Rebuild it. Maybe even the poppet. It needs an autopsy.

I think you mean exorcist, lol

He has a lot of videos, do you know the title by any chance?
