Air Venturi Avenge-X .22 Barrel Concerns

I inspected the barrel after a couple hundred rounds and there appears to be some rough spots around the circumference of the bore just past the breech, and also the last 1/4" or so at the muzzle, as well as a couple other spots in the bore. The non-existent crown looks pretty shoddy too. Also, the transfer port hole on the bottom of the barrel appears to be slightly oblong with what looks like bite marks from a drill bit. I can see where the pellets have knocked down burrs from that hole too. I've attached a few crappy pics. The fuzzy stuff is what got caught from the cleaning patches.
Will some basic bore polishing and deburring help? Or is this something I should attempt to get replaced?

This raises a good question. Should we check and possibly re-crown the barrels of all of our PCP‘s?

And all the topic, what is the consensus about whether we should clean all PCP bores before first shooting?

And how about honing the bores? As I remember, firearms people (of which I am one) can use special bullets to hone bores. I don’t know how effective these are.

I do. The workmanship of most airgun barrels leaves something to be desired. Inexpensive ones particularly so, and frequently even the expensive ones.

I was hoping you'd chime in lol.
I want to try to brass screw method, but I can't seem to find any regular phillips head screws without the flathead slot cut across it. I'm assuming that's not ideal for this operation...

If you are contemplating replacing the barrel I see that as an opertunity to learn and trial and error. I would try one step at a time and check. Maybe lightly polish barrel and clean extra good. Shoot 10 to 20 rounds and see if there is improvement. If not try to crown the barrel. After all you will learn and hopefully make it better and if not think of the experience learned. Ive noticed most airgunners are never totaly satisfied until we try to improve power acuracy shot count or whatever until we go too far and have to replace lol but we all learn good luck.

That's my plan! What makes this hobby so appealing to me is all the tinkering that goes along with it.

I did my .25 avenger. Polish, open barrel port drilled transfer port crown barrel better accureacy more fps on heavy pellets only downside is less shots per fill. Lol more power more air

Nice. I was thinking about trying to clean up the barrel port on mine and maybe going slightly oversize, but I haven't done enough research yet to feel confident about it.

My avenger was my first pcp last summer and i watched lots of u tube videos and the info provided on this sight so i figured why not try. worse case scenario i would wreck a $ 350 gun. Ive made a ton more costly mistakes in the course of learning something pluss it was fun lol

Good thing the barrels for the X are relatively cheap - which leads us back to the start of the problem lol. This is also my first PCP, and I've only had her for a few weeks, so I'm not trying to screw it up too badly yet!
