I've been looking for a slug that works in my AV Avenger in .22. I see a lot of people on here talking about various .216,217, and 218 options working out well. I haven't been able to find a slug that doesn't feel really tight when chambering and that will leave the barrel with any decent velocity. Even .216s will often just stick in the chamber and require multiple more attempts to fire. This rifle shoots the JSB Diablo Jumbo Heavy pellets extremely well but I don't understand why I'm having so much trouble getting a slug to shoot decently. My last idea is to try the one .2155" option that I have found but as tight as the .216's are I hesitate to get too optimistic. I have turned the air up and cranked the hammer in which has made little difference. Any advice is appreciated. Do I maybe just have a particularly snug bore?

In my opinion you must have a really tight bore
My barrel was tight first 9 inches down then open up a tad.
That was a 217 slug pushed through.
215 maybe your final option by the sound of it.
Its strange how the barrels are so accurate when every barrel is completely different.
Many good write ups on bore lapping and polishing on here" that might help you out with your problem.

If you search on those two terms, lapping and polishing, focus on topics dealing with a cast lap. There will be a preponderance of topics on polishing but those methods will do little to nothing to influence a tight spot or region.

Try some AVS slugs. Your Avenger uses the same barrel as my liberty and they work very good. The barrel will work with a slug at.215 as it is a very tight barrel with no choke. Doing the barrel polishing mentioned above will also help.
