AUGUST Match Report for the SVFTC

:D
Now today was something different, special or unique pending who you ask that was present ?

Yes only 8 lanes .. but we had 3 targets per lane and that darn Match Director stated 1 shot per target !!! Making for just 24 shots doing the 8 lanes. So whats his next directive but to go threw the course twice making today's match a 48 shot affair .... that's different requiring one to set up, range & dope correct 48 different times. Now a normal 15 lane 60 shot 2 target 2 shot per lane only required one to do that 30 times. As such the concentration on making your one shot count was a bit daunting for those who had never done a 1 shot course. Thus the laughter and noise was a bit muted today but in honesty thinking most were digging it !! Time to do this about equal to a typical set up and today took @ 3 + hours to go threw twice.

Present today we had 16 able and willing shooters make it out in lieu of the previous weeks weather approaching nearly 100 degrees. Our morning started out overcast under heavy clouds stacking in against the foothills & sierra mountain range. Temps early on a nice balmy upper 60's to lower 80's till about 11:30 am when the clouds overhead headed east and the temps rose by the minuet getting to @ 92/93 by 1:00 or so.

Our set was having most lanes a progression of distance or mixed distance with KZ's size following this trend of small in close to larger as distance increased. Tho as typical that darn MD and his evil helpers set out traps of small kill zones even a mouse could not get threw to stagger sizes at equal distance fooling the shooter "Ah" this shots easy after that smaller previous shot, then relax a bit and miss it ? .... Gotcha ! It's fun to create mind benders that challenge shooters while all being perfectly legal.

Ok, today's results by Class, Shooter & Score *XX48

Different, challenging, entertaining....a fun switch up from the old norm. Also, with fewer lanes there was more room to spread targets out and the MD was sure to have some "overlap" as he called it, i.e., a target or two from one lane appeared to be in the lane next door. These are fun shoots but as MD often says, he likes to make them learning experiences and if you weren't following your strings today, it might have cost you a few points. Wonder what he's going to dream up next?

Sam and Darren, thank you for bringing the eats and drinks. Always a treat.
