This summer has seemed unseasonably windy in the CA delta and today was probably the windiest match day we've had . Despite having a big wind flag out and greater than the usual number of bushes on the course to monitor wind directions and severity, the relentless up and down wind wreaked havoc with shooters and scores. At one point in the match Frank, who was shooting the only spring piston gun on the course, jokingly questioned if he had enough mil dots on his reticle to hold off for the wind.
Despite the challenges there always seems to be one shooter who defies conditions and today Pete showed how it's done with a respectable 56 out of 62 possible points. Honorable mention should go to MD Jeff who did very well on all the lanes until reaching his last lane which was a forced position lane where he fell behind to land in a three way tie for second place with 53 points......coincidentally with his two squad mates.
Enthusiasm to settle a tie was low and with only 7 shooters participating and a lot of work to tear down the course the three squad members tied for second agreed to share the modest notoriety equally and put their gear away.
It was fun match and the wind humbling but provided a good lesson for everyone.
Thank you MD Jeff for donuts this AM.....a slick strategy to set up the competition for a sugar high and then a crash, lol.
Until next month
