Atomic XR vs. frustrating starlings…

Went out to the former dairy today expecting good action, but it was a bit frustrating. I did bag 5 starlings, but they were unrecoverable. Three off of pictured rooflines. And two in a tree near the hoop house. The wind was whipping up at least 10 mph. So not a good day to be slinging lead with the little Atomic XR. I did set up on a woodchuck, my first of the season. I glassed it for about an hour. When it finally presented outside its hole, I gave it a pass. I know where it lives. There will be a next time.

L.L. hello , nice pics all around. I was out yesterday also after some starlings & hosps . Wanted to sight in the Airspeed for 50 . While setting up , the hickory tree behind my back stop had a couple of starlings land . Well now ,, set my shooting bag on the Toyota's mirror & had at one ! Held midway on the body & squeezed the trigger , Smack ! The other leaned forward as if to fly then paused . Yanked the trigger for a miss . It never moved ! Settled down & squeezed , Smack ! Then a couple hosps flew in ! Took three w/ 3 shots . Guess the gun was pretty close to on !! After setting up my target & running a few mags through I heard air . Found that air was coming out the barrel at a good clip ( whoa is me ! ) Back home to email Veradium Air & now waiting . BTW , I'm on G-hog #14 , a female that showed signs of nursing . Stopping the Chuck chase for a bit till the little ones are out. Got knee surgery coming up this week anyway. May have time in early June to pop some G-hogs before another shoulder replacement knocks me out of action again . Hope your Charlie hunting goes good !
